HISTORY
Pillar completed 1st June 1951 costing £14.11s.6d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NY45/T22 in 1953. Flush bracket S6481 was levelled for height to first class precision, tertiary standards in 1970. Routine maintenance by the Ordnance Survey was last undertaken in July 1984. This marker was later visited by the OS on 17th July 2000.
SITE VISIT
Parked in layby, north side of A66. Photos very limited. Absolutely bucketing rain, surrounded by frisky shooting bullocks, and cliff edge behind camera. The trig column is in good condition. Spider centre plugged with tar. The flush bracket faces SSW, compass measurement 192°. Vented through right (eastmost) sight hole.
