The vertical tumbling action of the patented Tumbleweed Compost Bin, designed with a stainless steel rod running through the middle, creates an aerobic action that offers a quick and odorless form of composting.

As part of the new less labour-intensive composting system, we now have compost drop-off bins, where everything from the hoophouses (from weeding) ends up. This is then transfered to large compost piles, like the one under the green cloth in the background.

Compost toilet. Have you ever seen such a beautifully hand crafted toilet in the middle of a field?

This fungus looked like it was reaching out from the bottom of the compost bin.

My wife wanted a way to sift the large chunks out of the compost so we made this with stuff we had in the garage. The only thing we bought was the mesh.

Western Queens Compost Initiative sponsored food scraps collection. Over 10 tubs of food scraps, watermelon rinds, corn cobs, lettuce, strawberries, and other fruits and veggies were diverted from the disposal. Now the nutrients left can be turned into fresh fertilizer for the soil.
