some recent photos that i think demonstrate my understanding of strange perspective, framing and rule of thirds
Objective 3: Composition Techniques
1.Rule of Thirds: The paper role is one at least one of the spots where the lines meet.
2.Perspective and depth: You don’t really ever look at the side of a role of paper.
3.Fill the Frame: The role of paper fills most of the picture up.
4.Backgrounds: The background matches the picture because it is in the library and there are just people sitting at tables and working. I don’t think the background is distracting.
6. Pattern: The way that the paper is rolled up makes it a pattern because there is a bunch of rings
7. Texture: Also the way the paper is rolled up makes it look like there is a lot of texture.
Objective 4: Lighting (side, back, soft, hard, fill)
Types of lighting and how they contribute to the image:
Hard lighting because it was in the school and it was from right over head. I don’t really think it contributed because before I changed it to black and white the light looked yellow.
Objective 5: Post Production (resize, contrast, sharpening, and others you have done)
Corrections/adjustments made:
I resized it so I could put it on Flickr.
I used contrast, this was before I learned about the curves graph thing to change the contrast, so I used the contrast bar.
I sharped it, I just used the sharpening tool and fixed it up a bit.
I changed it to black and white and then I used the brush tool so that the blue paper would show through.
Objective 6: Critique
Analyze your photograph for strengths and areas for improvement (consider composition, lighting, exposure, overall feel, etc.)
Strength: I feel that my strength is the focus because I was able to get my background blurry.
Area for growth: I think I need to work on lighting.

The sculpture was commissioned by the Prague municipality and the funds for its execution were raised in a public collection. The work was created in the workshop of Prague sculptor Jan Brokoff. Under the bronze cross a trio of figures mourns the dead body of Christ taken down from the cross. The upper half of Christ's lifeless body rests on the lap of the seated Virgin Mary, while the kneeling Mary Magdalene kisses Christ's lifeless right hand. In the middle of the composition is the standing figure of the mourning St. John the Evangelist. On the pedestal of the statue is a Latin inscription, translated, "Oh all you who pass by, look and see if there is any pain like my pain." Beginning in 1965, all of the statues have been systematically replaced by replicas, and the originals have been exhibited in the Lapidarium of the National Museum.

These visualizations illustrate a collection of patterns for programmatically arranging visual objects in 2D space.

I used variation in line and focal point in my composition.
My inspiration came from my porch flooring, I wanted to reproduce the wood grain. I really enjoy macro photography, so I decided to go in close and take advantage of larger brush strokes on my smallish canvas.
