In all honesty I can't remember the purpose of the ring section that comes away at this point, but it was obvious at the time. If the shutter mechanics need removing for cleaning then here you are. The escapement is retained by the two screws (red arrow and ring). Note the flash contacts are in the red ring. On a similar camera, there was a claw under this end which also had to engage with the escapement. the self-timer should lift out then, but note the location of the spring end (blue arrow) - here it looks like it is attached to the camera and not the self-timer (as it is on a similar camera). Unfortunately I did this work quite a long time before posting these pictures. See my album on overhauling the Contessamat SBE for more info on shutters.

I handloaded almost everything I shot for the last five to ten years, and my groups tightened up despite physical issues and declining health.
Yes, handloads are MUCH more accurate.
This is the last of the pistol stuff, albeit I have powder, press, scale, literature, etc., etc., remaining.

components have changed but I've uploaded this to show someone the sliding rear dropouts. This isn't the best pic of that but it's all I have right now
Nearing completion.
The main components assembled, this time with the skin and tail piece fitted.
The white areas on the skin are talcum powder that wasn't completely removed during the soaking process.
The skin has been stained brown using instant coffee granules.

Lorelei and I went out today to take HDR component photos. The sky was grey and the pictures were dull. So I've learned how to use the software necessary and have a stack of disappointing photos (the ground was alright, but the sky had one colour of grey, no dynamic range at all). So I will use this photo of Daisy finally plucking up the courage to scale our Christmas tree. Baubles were broken, there was shouting and crashing. I'm not sure if she achieved her purpose but she hasn't attempted another ascent. Yet.
