BCGEU Executive Vice Presidents are on the road!
From July 6-11, Brenda Brown, Mike Clarke, Mike Nuyens and Sussanne Skidmore will be visiting Chilliwack, Rosedale, Hope, Cache Creek, 100 Mile House, Quesnel, Barkerville and Prince George. Along the way they will visit with members at a variety of worksites and fire up the BBQ occasionally.
Driver Tom McMahon will make sure the EVP's and the new BCGEU RV get where they're going on time.
The BCGEU leadership visited worksites across the Okanagan on July 21, including in Kelowna, Penticton, Armstrong, and Vernon.
The union’s elected leaders will be visiting UBC Okanagan, the PRT Armstrong nursery, the courthouses in Kelowna and Penticton, several liquor stores, CLBC, as well as Service BC and MCFD offices, among others.
BCGEU president Stephanie Smith will be stopping at several worksites in the BCGEU RV.

The Regiment of Garrison N.º 3 (RG3) MHM is a base organ of the Fixed Component of the Portuguese Army Forces System, they are based in Funchal, maintaining a detachment in Porto Santo. Currently, the RG3 is the only Military Unit in the Madeira Military Zone (ZMM) being a mixed Infantry and Artillery Regiment. It is responsible for providing general and self-driving training to Army Soldiers originating in the Autonomous Region of Madeira and preparing Operational Units for the ZMM Forces. As a specific task, for the Operational Component of the Forces System, RG3 is responsible for preparing the Infantry Battalion and Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battery of the ZMM Forces.
The 3rd Garrison Regiment is commanded by a Colonel Subordinate to the Command of the Military Zone of Madeira and includes:

The Garrison Regiment No.3 is a very recent unit, having been created only in 1993, resulting from the merger of the Funchal Infantry Regiment (RIFc) with the Garrison Artillery Group No.2 (GAG2) however, the RG3 is heir to the traditions of the Military Units installed in Madeira, since the arrival in the archipelago of João Gonçalves Zarco in 1418. The RIFc originated in the Battalion of Hunters N.º 12 (BC12) arrived in Funchal in 1864, aboard the corvette Estefânia of the Portuguese Navy. In 1884, the BC12 is transformed into the Regiment of Hunters No.12 (RC12). In 1899, the RC12 gave rise to the Infantry Regiment No.27 (RI27) In 1927, the RI27 was transformed into the Independent Infantry Battalion No.19 (BII19) Between 1954 and 1975, the BII19 mobilized six Battalions and 55 Hunting Companies sent to Portuguese India and Africa, where they were involved in the different Theaters of Operations of the Guerra do Ultramar, suffering 93 killed in combat. In 1975, the BII19 is transformed into the Funchal Infantry Regiment.
The GAG2 originated from Artillery Units stationed in Madeira, in 1661 a Corps of 100 Artillerymen was created in Madeira to garrison the island's fortresses, later King D. Pedro II orders the creation of an Artillery Company. In 1815, there was a 1st Line Artillery Battalion in Madeira. Subsequently, the island would be garrisoned by several Coastal and Field Artillery Units and Detachments. During World War Two, the Grupo de Artilharia Contra Aeronaves nº 5 (GACA5) of Anti-Aircraft Artillery was created in Madeiraand the Coast Artillery Independent Coastal Defense Battery No.2 (BIDC2). After World War Two, the GACA5 is reduced and transformed into the Madeira Independent Anti-Aircraft Artillery Bataria (BIAAM). In 1960, BIDC2 is transformed into Artillery Bataria de Garrison No.2 (BAG2), which also takes over the missions of the then extinct BIAAM. In 1970, BAG2 is transformed into Grupo de Artilharia de Garrison N.º 2. On August 31st 2016, he was made an Honorary Member of the Order of Merit .

Financial independence. Power. Fame. These are often the components by which an individual’s success is measured. But what about character, competency, collaboration and trust? Do these qualities count in the measurement of success? This was the focus of this year’s 2012 Student Leadership Conference hosted by NASBA’s Center for the Public Trust’s (CPT) that took place June 12-13 in Philadelphia, PA. Students from universities and colleges all over the nation gathered for a valuable lesson in how to learn, live and lead a life of leadership.
In just its second year, the 2012 Student Leadership Conference saw record growth in attendance with 37 students representing 18 colleges and universities from around the country. Many students attended in hopes of starting a Student CPT chapter on their campus, while others hoped to enhance participation at an existing chapter.

With challenging enough rooms, I am unclear why some exhibitors stack multiple speakers next to each other. We first listened to Sara K's version of Brickhouse using the smaller Dalis, and I thought she had nice body to her vocals, but kick drum was a little dry. Techno sound great, as it almost always does. Switch to the larger Dalis, and I thought the mid bass was too prominent in this room.

This is an entertainment center that is also an indoor garden. This is from my FLO line of inddor garden cabinetry. The client will be putting their tv, and accompanying components on top of it, and gardening inside of it.
It will have CFL bulbs for growth, timers, and an exhaust fan. It will be airtight, and filtered to prevent insect infestations. Many indoor gardens lead to annoying insects ruining the plants, and/or buzzing in your face.
These are designed for people with a desire to grow their own vegetables, herbs, etc. all year round, but don't have a good place to do it, and/or want to keep a clean area, where the pets, and children can't ruin things.
The use of CFL bulbs costs 1/60th of the cost of a conventional grow light in this situation, and allows a much more compact growing space. I have been using these myself for over a decade.
