Shimano Alfine hydraulic disc brakes, Brooks B67 saddle, SKS fenders, Alex DM24 rims, Schwalbe Big Apple 2.15 tires. These brakes are outstanding. I have long been a huge fan of Shimano's hydraulic brakes, and the Alfine levers and calipers are as good as it gets. The rear caliper is mounted on the chainstay, which keeps it out of the way of the rack and fender eyelets. While I've gotten used to hydro disc brakes on my mountain bikes, to have them on a traditional-looking touring bike (with a curved, lugged front fork) is really special.

Tripod Components

The most recent excavations yielded several pieces of ivory veneered wooden furniture, including tripods (three legged stands). They were probably transported from their original locations by the force of the volcanic eruption. All are adorned with low relief carvings of Baccic themes. One tripod leg represents the god Bacchus himself on the outer face. Elsewhere cupids prepare sacrifices of fruits and pine cones before herms of the god and a satyr. A flaming altar, cymbals, fillets, and a basket are among the other ritual implements depicted.
Now badly damaged, the ivories were likely once painted and gilded. The tripod legs rested on feet in the form of lion's paws and were stabilized by horizontal hoops with reliefs of laurel branches and bucrania (skulls of sacrificial bulls). Whether the tripods held a bowl, a cauldron, or a celestial sphere remains uncertain.

Put together, pull and watch the animal bob up and down.
Change the mechanism on the drive wheel for more or less bobing.

Karate Monkey's new drivetrain. SIS 2011 wrecked the drive train so a new BB and chain was in order... and a perfect oppurtunity to change the ring and cog. Used Homebrewed Components cog and ring. Great stuff! The chain is a ultra cheap KMC chain.
Just got my new machine back from a trip to the shop, it went deader than a door nail Sunday night...no power....however it worked fine there & so far so good here tonite!

For her birthday, Liana got an LED Menorah solderless breadboard kit from Evil Mad Scientist: shop.evilmadscientist.com/component/content/article/672
The instructions for the kit are superlative. Liana did virtually all the work in preparing each component to spec and snapping them all into the breadboard according to the diagram - I only helped by reading instructions as she had both hands and eyes busy, then double-checking placement.
Went on a walk this morning (legs too sore for a run, and I wanted to wander about with my camera anyway). Quite happy with some of the results.
The silver seatpost and stem irritated me, so I replaced them with a couple of black components I had lying around. The seatpost (from the Shiromoto) only has about 20mm offset instead of 35mm offset, so I had to compensate by putting on a 100mm stem instead of the 80mm one that I had (and I had to pull the decaleur receiver as part of this process, because the receiver slots fouled against the bottom of the stem.)
Still no rack, but maybe I'll get some time to work on it this weekend
