Forbidden use without prior authorization
NON-NUCLEAR COMPONENT STORES BUILDING 60 –
The function of the non-nuclear component stores was to hold the high explosive part of the bomb and its outer casing. The casing could probably be split into two units, the tail and forward part containing the high explosive and electronics. The bombs, minus their fissile components, were housed in three almost identical stores buildings 59-61, known as Storage Building Type 'D-D'. These are arranged in an arrowhead pattern, and are accessed from the internal loop road, and are all surrounded by 14ft 6in high earth traverses, revetted by a reinforced concrete retaining wall against the roadway.
The western store, building 59 was gutted by a fire during the 1980's and has subsequently been demolished. Its floor plan remains visible on the remaining concrete floor slab. The two remaining stores, buildings 60 and 61 are rectangular in plan, and are constructed from reinforced concrete columns and beams. Internally there are two rows of columns, 13in², which support the roof beams, 2ft by 9in, which carry the 9in thick reinforced concrete roof slab which is covered with bituminous felt. The rainwater gutters and down pipes are cast asbestos.
The wall sections are filled with 18in by 9in by 9in precast concrete blocks, internally the main storage area measures 190ft 2½in by 60ft. It is divided longitudinally into eleven 17ft by 3ft bays and cross ways into three bays the outer bays measure 17ft 6in and the central bay is 25ft wide. The maximum clear internal height was 12ft from the floor to the underside of the roof beams. The floor is surfaced with a hard gritless asphalt with the patent name 'Ironite'. The walls are painted pale green colour and the ceiling cream. in store building 61 the bay letters 0, N, M, and L are visible on the rear columns on the eastern side, suggesting the store was divided into 22 bays along the outer walls.
Abutting on to the front of the stores, and flanking the entrances, are plant and switch rooms, which originally contained heating and air conditioning plant to maintain a stable environment within the stores. A raised air extract duct is placed asymmetrically on the roofs of the stores. Entry into the stores is through a 10ft wide door opening with 12ft high doors. In the rear wall of the stores is a single door width, outward opening emergency exit. The first nuclear weapon the store was designed to hold was relatively large, a ''Blue Danube'' bomb measured 24ft in length and weighed 10,000lbs.
The problems of handling such large objects are reflected in the provision of substantial lifting gantries at the entrance to each store. Two variants are found, the simplest, exemplified by the middle store building 60 comprises a straight gantry. Over the roadway the gantry is supported by four 24in by 18in reinforced concrete columns, which support two 51in by 24in reinforced concrete beams. The upper beams of the gantry taper towards the entrance to the store where they are suppurted by two reinforced concrete columns. On the underside of the gantry is attached a 20in by 6½in rolled steel joist runway beam which runs to the entrance to the building. This was originally fitted with a 10 ton hoist. The gantry is covered by asbestos sheeting to provide a dry working area.
On the eastern and western stores the gantries were set at 30° to the front of the stores. In this variant an extra set of columns was placed at the 30° dogleg. Internally there is no evidence for a runway beam, so it presumed the bombs were lifted off a road transporter and loaded onto a bomb trolley for storage. It is not known how many bombs were kept in each store, or if the tail units were separated from the front part of the bomb for storage. Subsequent to the site being relinquished by the RAF a central corridor has been created in the stores by the insertion of breeze block walls. Doors in these walls give access to workshops along either side of the buildings. External windows have also been inserted in some of the bays.

Este conocimiento ha perdurado en el tiempo gracias a los maestros que, contra toda adversidad, han persistido en mantener las bases materiales de una navegación autosustentable y propia de los habitantes del archipiélago. En tal sentido, la carpintería de ribera revela algunas semejanzas con prácticas ibéricas ya desaparecidas, especialmente en la lancha velera que se vincula muy directamente con la balandra. Este glosario es parte del habla común de los carpinteros de ribera e interviene en la designación de piezas y maniobras, constituyendo un tipo de patrimonio lingüístico vinculado al oficio.Entre las habilidades de los carpinteros de ribera se cuenta la capacidad para la observación y memorización de mensuras, modelos y técnicas constructivas, destrezas que solo se aprenden por la práctica sostenida. Esta pericia les permite ser artesanos navales prolijos, con un alto nivel para la ejecución artesanal de lanchas de gran ductilidad, resistencia, estabilidad y capacidades marinas. The Airbus BelugaXL (A330-743L) is a specialized, whale-shaped cargo aircraft developed to transport oversized aircraft components, such as A350 wings, between Airbus facilities in Europe. Based on the Airbus A330-200F, it boasts a unique, enlarged fuselage, a lowered cockpit, and a distinctive "smiling" livery designed by Airbus employees. The six-aircraft fleet, which entered service in 2020, offers 30% more payload capacity than its predecessor, the BelugaST, significantly supporting Airbus's production ramp-up.
Purpose and Function
Airlift of large components: The BelugaXL's primary function is to transport huge aircraft sections, like wings, from various Airbus factories to final assembly lines.
Fleet replacement: It was developed to replace the original BelugaST fleet and handle increased production volumes for aircraft like the A350.

What's it good for:
This is like a Magnetix set, but the connecting rods are electronic components, so it's very easy to set up circuits and try changes. I remember when I was a kid, I had one of those Radio Shack "150-in-1" kits where you would connect wires to springs and the resulting mess of wires didn't exactly stimulate you to experiment by changing things!
You can also mix-and-match with normal Magnetix pieces (they don't conduct from one end to the other) to create... ermmm... embedded systems ;-)
It's a pitty there are so few components, though. And as far as I can tell, they don't sell expansion kits (yet!).
Chris had told me about the Dutch navy base east of the Centraal Station in Amsterdam. On the second last day of my trip, I decided to browse around Piet Heinkade and came across these two Belgian minehunters M916 (Bellis) and M924 (Primula) visiting the Netherlands.
If this were in China, I would have been arrested and put in jail without a trial. But this is the Netherlands, the Belgian navy doesn't care being photographed.

Unable to find an original heater hose silencer in good condition, I decided to machine one myself from aluminum alloy. The Isetta originals were made from welded steel or molded plastic and most have cracked or rusted.
Here is an exploded view of the silencer. The outer chamber is lined with the gray, high-density acoustic foam. The end caps and mounting bracket bolt to the pair of flanges that are welded to the inner tube. This is my own design made to the same size and shape as the Isetta original.
On 31 January 2026, 42 Commando, Royal Marines, The 4th Battalion, Ranger Regiment (4 RANGER) and 2 Squadron, RAF Regiment conducting two simultaneous assaults on a target building to neutralise the threat during a training exercise as part of Exercise HYPERION STORM.
Flying low over the moorland, two Chinooks support a land attack by Jackal 2 assault vehicles. After the target was secured, the Chinooks touched down, and the special operations forces embarked again, flying back to their base at RAF Leeming in North Yorkshire. Conducted over two weeks in January 2026, Exercise HYPERION STORM is a validation exercise for the Task Groups who will be under the command of the Special Operations Command Centre (SOCC).
After two years of intensive preparation and training, including the building of a new NATO Joint Operations Headquarters, the UK is ready to lead the NATO Allied Reaction Force (ARF) Special Operations Component. Growing in complexity, the rigorous training has built on the skills required for Special Operations to ensure they are fully interoperable with NATO partners.
Unique in that it commands a Joint Special Operations Force (SOF) of Maritime, Land and Air task groups, the Special Operations Component Command (SOCC) was successfully validated in Norway by the NATO Special Operations Forces Command Evaluation team.
Ex Hyperion Storm is a validation exercise for the Task Groups that will be under the command of the SOCC. It requires the Special Operations Maritime Task Group (SOMTG), the Special Operations Land Task Group (SOLTG) and the Special Operations Air Task Group (SOATG) to be tested on their core skills: Special reconnaissance (SR); Direct Action (DA) and Military Assistance (MA). In addition to these UK Task Groups, the SOCC will command a Spanish Special Operations Land Task Group.

I hooked everything up here to do a last check to make sure everything works. It appears to. I'll have no idea how it actually sounds though until it's all in the box.
When the amp is put on the back of the box, I will connect the speaker wires to the outputs on the inside of the amp and ignore the screw terminals.
