“Bendix supplies every car manufacturer in America with one or more vital units.”

The Bendix Corporation was a major producer of electronic components during World War II. After the war, it transitioned to consumer markets, expanding its product line to include radios and phonographs. The company introduced their first home radios in the late 1940s and ventured into the television market during the 1950s. Although popularly connected to washing machines, the Bendix Corporation itself never manufactured them. They were produced by a partner company that licensed the Bendix name.

Bendix ceased operations in 1983 when it was acquired by the Allied Corporation. It later became part of Honeywell, where the "Bendix" brand name is still used for certain automotive and aviation components. [Sources: Wikipedia and Bendix.com]

students manipulate components of the fire triangle, in this case oxygen. QUINCY, Calif., November 7, 2017 — For Immediate Release. Plumas Unified School District (PUSD) science teachers are using an exciting new fire science curriculum to ignite students’ passion for science. The Sierra Nevada FireWorks curriculum about the science of wildland fire was developed as a collaboration among PUSD, Missoula Fire Sciences Laboratory (of the U.S. Forest Service’s Rocky Mountain Research Station), and the Plumas National Forest. While the curriculum for the Sierra Nevada is brand new, many activities were adapted from the original FireWorks educational program, published in 2000.

The new curriculum has been pilot-tested in many science classes and is now available for free online at www.frames.gov/fireworks/curriculum/sierra-nevada. Many activities require associated materials such as posters, hardware, and plant specimens. Digital materials can be downloaded and printed from the website, while other materials are available in FireWorks trunks. Trunks of materials have been provided to teachers at PUSD school sites.

FireWorks is a valuable tool to all educators, interpreters, and fire prevention specialists. Activities provide students with interactive, hands-on materials to study wildland fire and local ecology. Many of the activities are applicable wherever wildland fires occur, however, many are specialized for the Sierra Nevada.

To get a flavor for what takes place in the classroom: students learn how ladder fuels affect fire spread from the forest floor to the tops of trees in the Tinker Tree Derby. Students design model trees using metal stands and newspaper ‘leaves’ and then light a fire beneath their tree. Winning trees survive the fire with plenty of unburned leaves so they can still photosynthesize. Experiments with the Matchstick Forest Model examine how slope, density of trees, and other variables affect fire spread.

Rob Wade, PUSD outdoor educator has this to say about FireWorks, “It has been a great experience working with the team during the past couple of years. They really have transformed this idea into a meaningful, relevant curriculum for our teachers. We couldn’t be more pleased and are excited to integrate it district-wide this year.”

Ilana Abrahamson, Ecologist with Missoula Fire Sciences Lab added, “This program offers exciting,

hands-on activities for students to learn about Sierra Nevada ecosystems and the role of wildland

fire. It resulted from a rewarding collaboration, and PUSD teachers provided valuable feedback

about the activities and instruction. The result is a fun and robust program for educators and students

to use throughout the Sierra Nevada.”

“‘Neon Dino Nights’ is a tongue-in-cheek collection of bright and colourful animated projections created in the retro style of Hong Kong and Tokyo’s neon skylines, illuminating the Anderson Street overpass adjacent Westfield’s Asian street food mecca, Hawker Lane.

“The flickering and blinking neon lights will feature a whimsical mix of prehistoric creatures and delicious dino-inspired delicacies. Some lucky visitors to Anderson Street will also have the chance to see their name ‘up in lights’ within the projections using a fun public-participation component via social media.”

If you are looking to purchase electronic components, it is extremely important to make sure that you do it with caution. The main reason behind this is that there are many counterfeit products in the market, which may not only hamper your work, but may also damage you financially.

I'll get my Wii and games on Sunday, but I'm glad to have the component cable secured. Now I'm just worried about that extra controller.... Ordered on 11/15 at 11:30 am ET.

The Forest Garden (Skogens Trädgård). A most fantastic place in Ockelbo, Sweden, called Wij trädgårdar (Wij gardens). Read more here: www.wij.se .

This garden was founded only about a decade ago and focuses on the combination of art, design and sustainability in a rather harsh Nordic landscape. It has many components and is well worth a visit, even if you have to come from very far away.

This custom KGS / Cyfac Absolu is designed for KGS Bikes owner Kevin Saunders. We couldn't wait for a new component set so built up the bicycle with Campagnolo Super Record 11, and the new Topolino VTR4.0-KGS special wheels. The frame was built around Kevin's true bicycle position and now that the bike is built and photographed, it can be ridden and tested.

You can have a bicycle designed for you from the ground up and the results are unbelievable. If you or a friend wants the very best available, a KGS custom bicycle is what you have earned.

One of the most exciting components of A+ Partners in Education, Battle of the Books gets fifth grade students excited about reading. A lively academic competition, Battle of the Books improves reading comprehension, builds vocabulary, and teaches teamwork and good sportsmanship. The 2015 competition runs concurrently at Howard, Mt. Hebron, Oakland Mills, River Hill and Wilde Lake high schools.

Teams of five students and one adult coach each read the same 16 pre-assigned books over four months. Selected by HCLS instructors and HCPSS media specialists, titles include a wide range of reading levels and subjects. Thanks to generous sponsors, all teams receive a set of books. In addition to reading the books, teams choose a team name then dress accordingly.

During the "battle" (a 50-question exam), a moderator asks questions that relate to one of the following: a direct quote from one of the book characters; a statement about something that happens in the book; a passage taken directly from the book; details about an illustration or picture. Winning teams receive prizes.

The entire 1961 Cadillac dash components (upper instrument cluster, lower instrument panel, corner trim pieces, speaker grille and one lower panel) cleaned and reassembled back together. It was so dirty but now is so shiny! Originally this dash had been missing the headlight lamp switch and the clock, but correct replacements were found. Some lower panels and the glove box is not included in this image.

This image is the left side of the dash and the corner trim piece. This piece has groves and just slides into place. It would be screwed into the pieces behind this, which anchor it to the car itself. There are two posts at the bottom on the trim piece, which is where the lower metal dash panels would click into place. The 1961 had a ribbed trim, which can be seen on this trim piece and was also seen on the speaker grille and the decoration in the bumper tail light.

The 1962 Cadillac dash was laid out in a similar pattern, though there were some stylistic differences (corner trim pieces, speaker grille, radio design, and trim plates). The ribbed design would be replaced with smooth contours or grid patterns.

In "Forever Knight," Nick's Caddy is the 1961 model but has various components from a 1962, which would include the dashboard.
