This is a scene from the Cape Town Stadium in Green Point, 1 day before handover of the stadium to the City of Cape Town.
In 1961 the Russian military ordered the Tupolev Aircraft Company to design and build an amphibious craft small enough to be transported inside the Russian MK6 giant helicopter. It was to be used for the recovery of Russian cosmonauts downed in Siberia after completion of their space flights. The craft had to be capable of crossing lakes, swampy tundra, and hostile terrain. RIVERSIDE, IL – Governor Pat Quinn today moved forward with a major initiative that will significantly improve the health of Illinois waterways by removing or modifying 16 low-head dams throughout the state over the next several years. At an event in Riverside, the governor announced the completion of the Hofmann Dam removal. The dam removal initiative is the latest by Governor Quinn to protect the environment and preserve Illinois’ natural resources. Dam removal on Des Plaines River, Chicago River and other waterways will improve aquatic habitat and remove dangerous impediments to paddlers.

Gov. Neil Abercrombie and the Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) celebrated the substantial completion of the H-1 Freeway Rehabilitation Project at a dedication ceremony at Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum, overlooking the freeway. The project reconstructed and resurfaced one of the most heavily traveled corridors in the state and added an extra travel lane in both directions in less than 11 months. New LED street lighting, added drainage, and glare screens were also installed to improve highway safety.
Paul's Graduation Day celebration celebrating the completion of High School at St. Louis Priory School. Priory has a Mass for the Graduating class and friends and family. The Mass is then followed by the Graduation Ceremony including procession, speeches and such, and finally the awarding of diplomas.
Afterwards, there was a reception and a chance for photos with family and friends and faculty known over the past 6 years. I can find no words other than absolute pride in Paul's accomplishments in his time at Saint Louis Priory School!

The imposing tower rests on a limestone plinth, the interior of which was used to house a war museum. On the exterior the main (north) elevation of the base consists of a simple limestone facade with water table and cornerstone. Three granite steps lead up to the level of the top of the water table and connect a pair of curvilinear granite and limestone staircases that are edged by terra cotta balustrades. These steps lead to the top of the plinth.
The upper floors (2-6) contain storage areas. while the seventh floor contains the clavier for the carillon. The top two floors are devoted to the sixty-six bells of the carillon and a small observation platform. (1)
Popularly known simply as the Carillon, Virginia’s War Memorial reflects the patriotic fervor of the 1920s. It was sponsored by the Commonwealth of Virginia to commemorate the “patriotism and valor of the soldiers, sailors, marines, and women from Virginia” who served in World War I. Although a commission to study a design and site was formed as early as 1922, public campaigns altered the initial proposal and delayed completion of the project until 1932. The resulting edifice, designed by the nationally prominent Ralph Adams Cram of the Boston firm of Cram and Ferguson, is a brilliant interpretation of the Italian campanile in Georgian classicism. As stated at the time, the style was chosen expressly because the “Commonwealth of Virginia is the great southern exponent of that noble Colonial architecture.” Its bells were originally intended to ring out patriotic tunes familiar to those whom the structure memorialized. After its completion in the early 16th century, Seville Cathedral supplanted Hagia Sophia as the largest cathedral in the world, a title the Byzantine church had held for nearly a thousand years. It is the third-largest church in the world as well as the largest Gothic church. Since the world's two largest churches, the Basilica of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Aparecida and St. Peter's Basilica, are not the seats of bishops Seville Cathedral is still the largest cathedral in the world.
Seville Cathedral was the site of the baptism of Infante Juan of Aragon in 1478, only son of the Catholic Monarchs Ferdinand II of Aragon and Isabella I of Castile. Its royal chapel holds the remains of the city's conqueror Ferdinand III of Castile, his son and heir Alfonso the Wise and their descendant king Pedro el Cruel. The funerary monuments for cardinals Juan de Cervantes and Pedro González de Mendoza Quiñones are located among its chapels. Christopher Columbus and his son Diego are also buried in the cathedral.

What is Maheshwara Puja?
Maheshwara Puja is Hinduism’s most ancient ritual. His Divine Holiness blesses the ancestors and deceased loved ones to attain enlightenment and offer them “pinda” or food for the journey to their enlightenment.
Another big part of the Maheshwara Puja is the offering of food to the Master along with His monastic disciples. Offering food to the Master is equal to feeding ten thousand hungry people.
The best place on Planet Earth to give “pinda tharpana” (food for the departed souls, completion with living and those who left the body) is the stomach of a sannyasi. That is, the jataraagni (digestive fire), the hunger fire of a sannyasi is the best fire into which you can offer the pinda tharpana. The shraaddha (ritual offering to departed souls), reaches the pithrus (departed ancestors) directly. It is a thousand times greater than offering any “shraaddha”, any “pinda”, in any river, any water-body, any lake, any holy land, any holy place.

Upon enlisting, members of the RCAF were committed to a tour of at least 30 operational flights, which could take from four months to a year to complete. Thompson was one of the most experienced pilots in his squadron, having flown 100 missions during the Second World War, sometimes up to three flights a day. Being a pilot in the RCAF was extremely stressful and often dangerous, requiring constant concentration and physical strength. Pilots were regularly exposed to extreme weather and high altitudes, commonly resulting in frostbite, oxygen deprivation and low air pressure. Many pilots capped off their evenings with a drink in the pub to cope with the stress.

Congratulations to our high potential EOP students on their completion of their residential bridge experience. Our convocation took place on Sunday, December 4, 2016. Back in the summer of 2015, most of these students were admitted to our campus by EOP as "special-admit" freshmen. This means that CSU rejected these students due to their low grades in high school, but EOP leaders recognized their high potential. For a summer plus three semesters, EOP leaders provided support services, especially mentors, to help these students develop their potential. Now several are young scholars on our campus.
