Students in the Infrastructure Academy M+I Core program are recognized during a graduation ceremony on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025, at Austin Community College’s Riverside Campus lecture hall. ACC faculty, staff, employers and families attended to celebrate the graduates, many of whom have been or will be hired upon completion.

After completion of an errand in the Grand Central area, it was time to explore the east side of Manhattan, to check on several architectural/historical items of interest, as well as wear down the soles of my shoes, with another long walk. We began our walk north along Lexington Ave. and took a look over the shoulder at the classic Chrysler building at E42nd St. The sky was clear and it was a cool October morning, and it truly felt like autumn…finally. There were several goals to see, the first of which was to walk around the beautifully restored townhouses that make up Turtle Bay Gardens along E48th and E49th Streets between 3rd and 2nd Avenues. That was followed by a return to Lexington Ave. to view the CitiCorp center and the beautiful Central Synagogue at 55th St. We then walked south and east on E54th Street to view the unique “Lipstick” building at 3rd Ave and E54th-E53rd Street. Heading east on 53rd we came upon the two architecture gems of the journey, at 312-314 E53rd St. These are the last two wooden residential buildings that were constructed in Manhattan in 1866. That was the year new fire codes went in effect to ban wooden construction in the city. And no, we were unable to locate any turtles, or even the bay which are both long gone.
This discovery was followed by the long walk north along historic 2nd Ave. passing many old buildings which were in place while the 2nd Avenue elevated tracks were still in place. The goal was Yorkville, and a stop at the famous Schaller & Weber “Würst” stube for a Currywürst and cold German Bier for lunch at E86th St. After an enjoyable stop for lunch it was east on E86th street (which was once the center of German-American life in New York) to visit the short but photogenic “Henderson Place” near East End Avenue. Then a quick walk into Carl Schurz park along the East River, and passing Gracie Mansion (the Mayor’s house). It was then back to 2nd Ave. to 96th Street to the Subway and back to Penn Station. Not a bad bit of walking, 54 city blocks plus a bit of east-west crossovers!
The residents of Natura Loft @ Bishan are invited to the completion ceremony on 2 Oct 2011 (Sun) from 10am to 1pm to celebrate the completion of the precinct. The ceremony will be held at the Precinct Pavilion (Level 1, E-Deck).

Upon completion of a 10 week Certificate II leadership and personal development course through Aboriginal Indigenous Leadership Centre (AILC) 12 local indigenous youth travelled to Central Australia in June / July 2016.
The trip was undertaken to assist them to learn about the value and role of traditional culture and value and to reconnect with identity, culture and spiritual practices.
On their return the leadership group will use their new skills and understanding to influence and teach their peers through peer development, Youth Week and Reconciliation Week activities. They will also develop a short DVDE of their personal journey which will be used by schools and youth centres as a resource for other young people.
The leadership team will work with Queanbeyan-Palerang Regaional Council's Aboriginal Community Liaison and Projects Officer to create an innovative new Reconciliation Week program, with activities tailored for all school ages.
