JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (February 14, 2022) – The JAXPORT Board of Directors today unanimously approved a 20-year, $60 million agreement between Ceres Terminals and JAXPORT for the lease and modernization of the TraPac Jacksonville container terminal in Jacksonville, Florida.

In a separate transaction, Ceres will purchase the terminal’s previous leaseholder, terminal operator TraPac Jacksonville, LLC from Mitsui O.S.K Lines, Ltd. (MOL), subject to closing conditions. Details of the private transaction, including purchase price, have not been disclosed.

Subject to completion of the sale, Ceres will begin operating the 158-acre container facility located at JAXPORT’s Dames Point Marine Terminal on March 1st.

The agreement includes a $45 million lease with JAXPORT. Ceres will also make $15 million in terminal upgrades, including investments in cargo handling equipment and systems.

A leading international terminal operator, Ceres has 60 years of experience with operations at many of North America’s largest ports. The company is experienced in terminal development, operations and stevedoring for a variety of cargo types and trade lanes.

“We are excited about our long-term commitment to JAXPORT and the local community. Our significant investment in Dames Point Terminal provides an excellent gateway for South Atlantic-based distribution centers, well into the future,” said Craig Mygatt, Ceres Terminals CEO.

“An investment of this magnitude speaks volumes about the opportunity that exists in Jacksonville,” said JAXPORT Board Chair Wendy Hamilton. “We are grateful to Ceres for their continued investment in our community and look forward to growing this important partnership in the future.”

JAXPORT’s largest single-tenant operated facility by acreage, TraPac Jacksonville features two 1,200-foot-long berths and six post-Panamax container cranes. Along with the existing Asian and South American services, the facility recently accommodated Hapag-Lloyd’s AL3 European container service, which rerouted to JAXPORT for nine weeks to avoid US port congestion.

“The ongoing supply chain disruption underscores the significance of this agreement and the importance of the capabilities offered by the TraPac Jacksonville facility,” said JAXPORT CEO Eric Green. “When we put together JAXPORT’s Strategic Master Plan, our focus was growing cargo volumes and the private sector jobs they support. This agreement is a major step forward in the evolution of that plan. We thank MOL for their partnership over the years and look forward to growing the economic impact this facility has on our community under its new ownership with Ceres.”

An existing JAXPORT tenant, Ceres has also operated the JAXPORT intermodal yard (ICTF) at Dames Point, adjacent to the TraPac terminal, since it opened in 2016.

Operations and ocean carrier services will remain the same, ensuring a seamless transition for customers.

Located just minutes from major interstates, TraPac Jacksonville offers direct containership service to ports throughout Asia and South America through THE Alliance.

A70 Hereford

Hereford Production 1950-1954

50,421

Body style(s) 4-door saloon

2-door estate

2-door convertible

Wheelbase 99 in (2515 mm)

Length 167.5 in (4255 mm)

Width 69.5 in (1765 mm)

Height 65.5 in (1,660 mm)

The 2.2 L (2199 cc) straight-4 pushrod engine provided the same power output, at 67 bhp (50 kW), as it had when installed in the earlier Austin 16 hp.

The A70 Hereford replaced the Hampshire in 1950 and was wider and slightly longer with an extra 3 inches (76 mm) in the wheelbase. A new addition to the saloon and estate models was a 2-door convertible with coachwork by Carbodies of Coventry. A notable mechanical change was the use of hydraulic brakes. The smaller A40 Somerset had similar styling and even shared the same door panels. Sales were slow, with just over 50,000 produced when the A90 Westminster replaced it in 1954. A rare variant was the Hereford pick-up. This shared the same platform as the estate, but with fully-faired bodywork aft of the driving cab. The interior of this rather plush workhorse was the same as the saloon, with a large split-bench seat, and full instrumentation set in the middle for easy completion whether for left- or right-hand drive.

A car tested by the British magazine The Motor in 1951 had a top speed of 80.5 mph (129.6 km/h) and could accelerate from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 21.4 seconds. A fuel consumption of 21.9 miles per imperial gallon (12.9 L/100 km; 18.2 mpg-US) was recorded. The test car cost £911 including taxes

This week, Spohn Ranch field crews will be wrapping up substantial completion of the construction on Bemidji, Minnesota’s highly anticipated community skatepark. As flatwork and final aesthetic detailing move forward, the park will prepare for its official grand opening at the beginning of November.

After weeks of battling intense rain and a consistently flooded job site, the hard work has finally paid off. As the final features were shot and poured this past week, it was becoming clear just how amazing this park was going to look and skate. Leading the charge as the project’s general contractor, Spohn Ranch worked in conjunction with California Skateparks to present the City of Bemidji with one of the Midwest’s most unique and modern skateable landscapes.

As the Old Donation School nears its completion, it is receiving great reviews. It will be home to students in grades second through eighth who are gifted intellectually, in visual arts or dance. It has a capacity of 1,375.

The school, which will open about four months ahead of schedule, has features common in 21st century education, such as small-group learning spaces and seats that easily slide around, flexible walls, and using hallways as educational spaces. It also has an 800-seat theater and an outdoor stage.
