USAG Kaiserslautern had two teams participate in The Begegnug von Führungskräften Mit Vergleichsschie§en or Gathering of Leaders with Competitive Shooting Oct. 6 at the German Police Academy on Enkenbach-Alsenborn. Billed as a way to put a face to the name, the shooting contest is just an activity because the main focus is to develop contacts for a good working relationship among the participants. A slight increase from last year’s contest, 22 European and American law enforcement teams from Germany, France, Belgium and The Netherlands competed this year. American military teams in the competition were two from the garrison and one from the Air Force Office of Special Investigation, 13th Field Investigations Squadron on Ramstein Air Base. It was also the first year that a military police team from the Allied Air Component Command Headquarters on Ramstein AB participated in the competition. The German Police Academy has held this shooting competition since 1977, expect in 2006 because of the FIFA World Cup games held in the City of Kaiserslautern. It first started out as a competition for leaders only, but about 10 years ago, that all changed and team membership now is not dependent on rank.
From the very beginning, American teams from the KMC have been invited to the competition. The garrison has participated in this shooting competition for 10 years. Photos by Christine June, USAG Kaiserslautern.

Retablo Mayor door Gaspar Becerrra (midden 16e eeuw), een van de meesterwerken van de Spaanse renaissance In the 50s of the 16th century, a competition was announced to make the main altarpiece of this cathedral. Their projects were presented by two prestigious workshops that represented the traditional way of working with wood against the new Mannerist fashions in which the altarpieces were more architectural than ornamental. The sculptor Gaspar Becerra , who knows new trends, also presented his project . He was accompanied by a team of teachers and officers who are experts in assembling and carving wood, aware of their master's ideas, who knew how to put his concepts and wishes into practice in the sculptures that make up the altarpiece.
The organization of the altarpiece was a great novelty introduced by this team of artists. The framework presented classicist columns and pediments, considering a new architectural system that served as an example for the altarpieces of the second half of the 16th century. The layout and the sculptures were carried out by Gaspar Becerra and his collaborators; the polychrome was made by Gaspar de Hoyos and Gaspar de Palencia . The contract was signed in 1558 and the work was completed in 1584.
The altarpiece consists of three bodies or floors and five streets, plus four entrances. In the central street the groups of the Assumption and the Coronation of the Virgin are arranged in a round shape. All the iconography is dedicated to the life of Christ and the Virgin. The Calvary of the attic is of great proportions. In the center of the predella or bench is placed the tabernacle, of a good size as is customary to do based on the recommendations of the Counter-Reformation . On both sides are the reliefs of the Virtues.

Once there was a little olive color birdie at my window sill. He was going after spider webs until he noticed his reflection in the window. thinking he had competition, he raised his crest and revealed to me his bright ruby, red patch. A special moment for me.
