Life in the crowded nest area is tough, and these Asian openbills are fighting hard for the better place. On the top of the trees there is no place for everyone, and the trees are almost breaking under the weight of these birds.

Jack: An unknown ghoul who haunts Halloween night in Avalon City, it's said that Jack'O Lantern has found a body...but still enjoys cutting heads off for enjoyment with his blazing sword called "Firebyte". If your out on Halloween night in Avalon City run!
Brat: A young girl who when angered or upset release a powerful kinetic force! She is a world class brat who when not getting what she wants lashes out with her powers causing a large amount property damage to the city.
Canvas: When Oliver (Canvas), tried to become a world famous artists his art work was bought for a small price and then forged and sold at a higher price to bidders in Avalon City auction by a con man. When Oliver found out the news he tried to report it to the police but had no evidence as the original copies were destroyed by the con man. Heart Broken and poor Oliver tossed a nickel into a magic wishing fountain hoping for his situation to turn around, little did he know the fountain granted him a wish but...with a price.
The wish gave Canvas a magic paint brush which used magical inc and a canvas. The magic items allowed Oliver to paint whatever he wanted...however Oliver soon found that whatever he painted leapt off the canvas and became a real item or creature.
Using this ability to get revenge on the con man that screwed him over, Oliver made a persona called "Canvas" who painted a machine gun and used it to gun down the con man. Now becoming a criminal Canvas hides from the police however his persona Canvas slowly grows stronger and more dangerous...always thinking "big picture" Canvas is painting a large Hydra Dragon to wreak havoc on Avalon City.
Painting bundles of money and drugs he is a dangerous distributor in the back market and even paints Nuclear warheads which comes to life and sells them to thugs and super villains.
Balloons are the target in this shooting competition at the Larimer County Fair in Colorado. According to the Cowbow Mounted Shooting Association, "The cartridges fired are called . 45 caliber Long Colts. The brass cartridge is loaded with black powder (like that used in the 1800's). This load will break a balloon up to about 15 feet."
I don't know much about the history of this image, other than it was in Granddad's collection and depicts firefighters from Shepshed Fire Station at an inter-station competition. The uniforms suggest it would not have been taken much after the mid-1970s.
On the subject of uniforms, it is interesting to see the all-black Cork and leather helmets, which persisted until the early 90s in some areas (albeit with a change in colour) and the presence of individual axes on each firefighter's belt.
The crew are demonstrating, presumably against the clock, their ability to set up a lightweight portable pump and suction system, to deliver water from ponds, streams, lakes or similar. Rural firefighting, such as in Leicestershire, would often entail securing water from such open sources.
Here in Victoria, we use a modern version of this with a metal strainer on the end to prevent debris entering the system. I suspect the modern suction hoses are a slightly larger too. The two firefighters with their backs to us appear to be securing a line to the hose, which is a practice that endures here.
I would note that their pump seems a great deal more sophisticated than the one I have used, in that it has instruments! Mind you, we tend to take our trucks, with their four wheel drive capacity, closer to the desired water source and use the truck pump to obtain water.
A step away from a country park play area there were hundreds of mushrooms all doing their bit to break down all the leaves and dead wood.

From pagan fertility rituals to hallucinogenic herbs, the story of witches and brooms is a wild ride. The evil green-skinned witch flying on her magic broomstick may be a Halloween icon—and a well-worn stereotype. But the actual history behind how witches came to be associated with such an everyday household object is anything but dull. It's not clear exactly when the broom itself was first invented, but the act of sweeping goes back to ancient times, when people likely used bunches of thin sticks, reeds and other natural fibers to sweep aside dust or ash from a fire or hearth.
As J. Bryan Lowder writes , this household task even shows up in the New Testament, which dates to the first and second centuries AD.
From the beginning, brooms and besoms were associated primarily with women, and this ubiquitous household object became a powerful symbol of female domesticity..
Despite this, the first witch to confess to riding a broom or besom was a man : Guillaume Edelin.
Edelin was a priest from Saint-Germain-en-Laye, near Paris.
He was arrested in 1453 and tried for witchcraft after publicly criticizing the church's warnings about witches.
His confession came under torture, and he eventually repented, but was still imprisoned for life.
Edelin was the Prior of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, an Augustinian and a Doctor of Divinity. He promulgated the idea that it was impossible for the Devil to make pacts or witches to fly on brooms. After being arrested, he confessed that he had signed a compact with the Devil to satisfy his carnal desires, part of this being that he pretend that witchcraft was impossible. The compact was afterwards found upon his person. He also confessed that he had "done homage to the Enemy, under the form of a sheep, by kissing his posteriors," and to having gone to the Sabbath "mounted on a balai", the first reference to the use of a broomstick in connection with witchcraft
After his capture, he repented and was imprisoned for the rest of his life in the city of Évreux.
