The artwork represents the mission of the first religious hospital communities established in Quebec. In front of the cross, a nun, her heart and arms wide open, and a kneeling monk, support an old man. The artist chose to illustrate compassion through the cross, which is its ultimate symbol, and through the body posture and facial expression of the two monks, who seem to be one with the suffering.
Notre-Dame-des-Anges, Québec.

Day 22 of 30 days of gratitude: Today I have felt deep gratitude for the interconnectedness of humanity...for the ability to explore the realm of another person's life, by way of my own experience.
"Compassion can lead one into danger."
Boo Radley saved the Finch children from Bob Ewell's attack and brought them home safely. Afterwards, he did not feel honor, but felt afraid. He was afraid of people harrassing him at his home, even though the visits would include gracious gifts and appreciation. Boo would be mortified with all the citizens at his house. So even though he did a wonderful deed, he would be in a terrible situation afterwards.
This photograph of someone getting pickpocketed shows what was to be a tender embrace turning into a theft.
