In answer to the questions below, the compass plant is a very interesting prairie plant. It's lower leaves almost always line up with north and south. Long ago it helped travelers find their way across the prairie. Common in black soil prairies. Their roots can go down 12 feet and their leaves stay surprisingly cool even on a very hot day.

I grabbed this shot in Cromer, England a few months ago. I love the curves and textures in the shot and also the fact that the walking couple, rushing by, are so tied up in their conversations that they are seemingy unaware where they are walking.
