Don't know how many times I used one of these at school, or had one jabbed in my thumb :)

i was inspired from a banner in front of the aquarium Berlin, when i spent one hour to watch the yellyfishes + the water was not so clear, full of particles + so it looks like a starry sky + here i start with my new album: Jellyfish in space

In the long forgotten past before Sat-Nav (Satellite Navigation) and GPS (Global Positioning System) , we had to find out where we were and where to go using paper maps and strange little manual devices called…..Compasses!

Local pub at Hemingford Abbots, Cambs

The Axe and Compass is a historic pub located in the village of Hemingford Abbots, which is about 15 miles west of the city of Cambridge in England. The pub dates back to the 17th century and has a charming traditional English pub atmosphere with wooden beams, cozy fireplaces, and comfortable seating.

The Axe and Compass is known for its selection of ales, beers, and wines, and serves classic British pub food such as fish and chips, steak and ale pie, and Sunday roasts. The pub uses locally sourced ingredients whenever possible, including vegetables grown in its own garden.

The pub hosts regular events throughout the year, including live music, quizzes, and beer festivals. It also has a private function room that can be hired for events such as weddings and birthday parties.

Overall, the Axe and Compass is a charming and popular pub that offers a traditional English pub experience with a focus on locally sourced ingredients and a welcoming atmosphere. Its location in the picturesque village of Hemingford Abbots, combined with its historic charm and excellent food and drink, make it a must-visit destination for anyone in the Cambridge area.

Lack of objects for today shooting.

Then I saw my compass on my backpack, idea came!!

I placed the compass on yellow paper for color contrast. Realized no magnets to create magnetic field to rotate the compass.

Found my beads magnet. Setup a LED light and smartphone shutter for 1sec. Moved a cluster of beads magnet to spin the

It worked and also leaving a trail of reflected lights from the beads, bonus!!

Hope you like it !!

Wildflower, Compass Plant growing along the prairie trail in Hixon Forest, La Crosse, WI

There was a time when instruments were simple and hand crafted, embedded in elaborate casings. This compass, hand engraved on what I think is Buffalo bone (not ivory) and completed with a tiny lode-stone mounted on a functioning compass needle was bought in Hanoi some 25 years ago as an antique. Maybe: maybe not: but hand made in a traditional ancient style. From (as they say) the collection of the photographer.

A classic, almost prehistoric-looking prairie wildflower. The tallest one in the middle was around eight feet tall, or about 2.4 meters. Thompson Prairie, where this photo was taken, was filled with them, making for an interesting sight.

This shows a sunrise at Compass Pond next to the Golden Road in Northern Maine in Piscataquis County. (image 34A2406) Please also visit: acadiamagic.com.

The Algoma Compass arrived in port early yesterday morning. She brought with her a load of cement to be used for construction. Sometimes she will deliver road salt. It is always amazing to walk beside such a large vessel and wonder at how it stays afloat. When you look at her hull, there are stories to tell in the scratches, scrapes and rust patches.
