Today I am meeting up with my forum/flickr/facebook friend Sasastro. We shall be chatting, but of course also looking for decent images - the weather is on our side, with glorious spring sunshine. Hopefully, I'll have some pictures to show you at some point.

With this, you can use off-camera flash outdoors with a compact camera. Many people have been asking to do this, obviously, because they don't want to buy a new camera. To use this, turn on the built-in flash on your camera, attach the optical trigger (SYK-3) to the radio transmitter. Hold those two near the camera when you take the photo. The flash will trigger the radio remote, which will trigger the big flash. If you are more than a few feet away, the built-in flash will not have much effect on the subject, but the speedlite will.
Recommended settings for tombstone photography with this set-up: Flash at 1/4 power, about 4 feet away from tombstone. Camera on Program Mode (P), with -1 stop of exposure compensation. Adjust to taste and circumstances.
Remember to turn off any pre-flash modes on your camera, such as red-eye reduction.
This should be great for most shots.

Compact 24x36 peu courant en France. Version export du Smena 8. "C'est le premier Smena à utiliser la cartouche 35mm standard avec rembobinage, le dos est entièrement amovible ainsi que la bobine réceptrice selon la mauvaise habitude soviétique." (EC sur le site "Collection-appareils") On trouve également cet appareil sous le nom de Global 35 ou Revue. L'objectif est un Lomo T-43 de 40 mm ouvert à 1:4 monté sur un obturateur à armement séparé du 1/15ème au 1/250ème plus une pose B. La mise au point se fait sur l'optique, le repère est sur le côté et les distances vont de 1 m à l'infini, les repères intermédiaires étant 1,4 / 2 / 2,8 / 4... jusqu'à 11, sans doute pour mettre un peu de confusion dans l'esprit du débutant ? Le déclencheur dispose d'un verrouillage. Le disque sur le dessus est une table d'équivalence entre différents systèmes de mesure de sensibilité des films, ce qui n'est pas d'une grande utilité, l'appareil n'ayant pas de cellule. Ce disque contient également le compteur de vues.

This is a nice little compact camera from the late 1960s. It is very sturdy with all metal construction. The condition is surprisingly good except that the lens label plate is missing and the foam seals need replacement. The selenium meter is still working, but the EV reading is one stop lower when compared with my DSLR. This can be compensated with higher ISO setting (e.g. use ISO 200 for ISO 100 film). The maximum ISO setting is 200. That leaves ISO 100 film as the best choice for this camera.
The lens is Fujinon 38mm f/2.8 with aperture down to f/22. The Seiko-L shutter has speed 1/30-1/250s, and Bulb. The shutter works in one of three modes: (1) when the aperture is set to "A", the shutter is automatically locked to "A/flash", this is the programmed auto exposure mode; (2) when the aperture is set to a non-"A" position and the shutter is set to "A/flash", the shutter speed is set to a fixed flash sync speed, this is the flash mode; (3) when both aperture and shutter are set to non-"A" position, it works in full manual exposure mode.

Canon Sure Shot and Nikon L35AF are compact 35mm cameras. Both are motorized, auto-focus, auto-exposure cameras that are great for the times when I want to shoot with a small, simple, inexpensive, easy to operate cameras that take decent quality photos.
They are also useful for the times when I need to loan someone a camera. For example, when I shoot weddings, I sometimes give a camera to a female and ask her to go into a restricted area (like the women’s dressing room) and take candid photos of the bride.
When I taught 35mm film photography, I purchased these inexpensive Nikon and Canon compact cameras on Ebay for loan to students who did not have their own.
Both cameras require two AA batteries.
