Unedited version of the moon last night, is it the furthest reached for a compact, probably but of course it's all pointless.

Has a typical weaver color scheme but an unusual shape: a chunky body, heavy bill, and short tail. Breeding males and females have a black mask, and the crown is yellow in males and black in females. Non-breeding birds are more distinctive than typical non-breeding weavers: buff below, with a dark crown and eye-stripe. Found in wet and grassy microhabitats within savanna, forest, scrub, and cultivation. Usually in small flocks. Along with typical weaver “chit” notes and sizzling, “radio static” song, also often gives a “cheep” call. Superficially similar to other weavers, but separated by distinctive shape.

Compact Camera - Fuji FinePix E900
This morning I was trying to take a picture of Sydney when I saw Jessie observing herself in Jane's compact mirror. So I snapped this picture of her(and me).
I love my Sony RX100. It has over 20 MP, can fit in my pocket, has a great lens, and has a killer watercolor feature. I often find myself taking it with me rather than my Canon 40D DSLR. Most reviews say it's the best pocket digital camera you can buy. But do these compact cameras have a future given the advances in phone cameras? Phone cameras today are able to add so much more functionality via software, it's hard to see how these won't be relics.

From the web:
"Bomag landfill compactors are multipurpose, heavy-duty machines that provide optimal utilization of capacity allowing the best possible compaction of household, construction and industrial waste materials.
The Bomag refuse compactor surpasses industry standards with its intelligent machine concepts and design making for a durable and efficient package for all landfill sites."

Candid eye contact street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. Having just replaced some batteries into his compact camera, he asked me if I had got the shot I wanted after he caught me pressing the shutter. I just loved the composition and light for this shot, the horizontal and vertical lines in the architecture against the multi-directional wrinkles on his skin and clothing. It's always nice to share a smile with a random subject after they catch you shooting. Enjoy!
These CN C40-8M's are funky, yet cool to look at. The shortened trucks, squashed yet spacious cab, cowl carbody, and even paint schemes make them a desirable catch.
One such example, CN C40-8M 2405, leads CSX K426 as it holds short of the signals at Nicholas Rd near Dayton, OH.
Made by Florida wood turning artist Stan Liner, these beautiful wooden pieces would look beautiful gracing the hall, living room or dining room of any contemporary home, adding a smartness and style with their elegant lines and beautiful woodgrains. Stan uses exotic woods like African Ebony and Bubinga. So why a compact home? Well, in truth these four pieces of beautifully turned wood, are in fact pieces from my 1:12 miniature collection. Stan Liner is a miniature artisan, specialising in making wonderful pieces out of cast off pieces of rare wood. The Bubinga wood finial on the two piece footed urn makes this piece only two and a half centimetres in height! Incidentally, the finial, which is five millimetres in diameter, can be removed from the urn, just like a life sized urn lid can be!
The theme for "Looking Close on Friday" on the 29th of March is "wood grain". I had several ideas, including a lidded container I have made of rare Tasmanian Huon Pine and a close up of one of my fence palings. Then, after I took a couple of rather disappointing images of the Huon Pine lidded container, I suddenly remembered these beautifully hand turned wooden miniatures made by artisan Stan Liner. The pieces stand on a miniature demilune table featuring a mirrored top, and the background is wonderfully hand printed paper from an artist friend of mine in America which wrapped one of her Christmas gifts to me. Anyone who follows my photostream knows that I love and collect 1:12 size miniatures which I photograph in realistic scenes. The artifice of recreating in minute detail items in 1:12 scale always amazes me, and it’s amazing how the eye can be fooled. I hope that you like my choice for this week’s theme, and that it makes you smile.
Townhouse complex in Oldenburg, Germany with lovely individual gardening culture in front of every building.
Hickson Compact Group 68 is like a little box of assorted galactic chocolates. There's a lenticular galaxy, an elliptical, a couple of S0's and a pretty barred spiral Seyfert galaxy. My favorite in this field is the "little" spiral galaxy, UGC8841, at the top left.

Yesterday (za 10/10) i decided to go and check out the Clingendael park. It's a wonderful and huge place with a rich history prior to it becoming a public park (1953). In addition it has the largest Japanese garden in the Netherlands, which i unfortunately didn't visit. The reason for not visiting is that it got rather small paths and a lot of people. Even tho Clingendael is a great place, i wouldn't recommend going there for the purpose of capturing insects. It's great for mushrooms in autumn and flowers in spring and summer, but it's quite busy and not really the place for spotting wildlife. Next week i'll explore the Cronesteyn, which somebody recommended to me.

Fujifilm X100F
Really enjoying testing this Fujifilm for local Poznan company Digital24. Spending the better part of yesterday traveling through Poland really enhanced the fact that having a small, compact powerful camera is essential. I love my DSLR and there are things that I will never get from this camera, but...the effortless nature of having such a small, lightweight camera is appealing. That being said...there is always room for another camera and this one is a top pick for me.
I have decided to give another 365 a shot. This time in black and white. I feel the need to strip down a bit and work on form, contrast and composition as well as tone.

Once upon an Arch so bored...
Well, once again boredom has me doing weird things in PMG. This turned out surprisingly well, I think, as it looked pretty butt ugly for the majority of the time I was working on it. Towards the end some of the details pulled it together. Still a pretty ugly and unwieldy looking thing.
