How things have changed over the years, the one at the back is from 1979 and the digital one at the front is from 2006... positively ancient by today's standards. Many of the photos on my current photostream are still being taken with the little Sony by the way !
To make this photo I laid a white sheet of paper and propped it up with a book on my kitchen worktop and mounted my Canon 7D on a tripod and did a long exposure under the kitchen light on auto white balance....all very low tech.
On the instructions of Joseph Paul Middlehurst the Birchley Hall estate and the contents of the Hall were offered for sale by auction on 10 January and 7-8 March 1945 respectively.
The estate then comprised

THE RESIDENCE … consists of Entrance Hall, 29ft by 8ft; Dining Room 20ft by 18ft, with carved Jacobean oak fireplace,large Kitchen, 20ft by 14ft, with range and panelled partition; several Food Stores, Pantries and Scullery; cool Dairy etc.

Hot in Place Recycling of the road surface along Highway 16 from Fort Fraser Overhead to Engen Road has recently been completed. Approximately 24 kms of surface were milled, recycled and replaced. Hot-in-place recycling reuses the existing asphalt pavement and greatly reduces the amount of additional aggregates required, thereby conserving natural resources. This segment of Highway 16 is in the middle of the worst hit Pine Beetle epidemic area and has significant rutting and cracking from logging equipment being used in the area.
