A Manhattan-bound Newark-WTC train is seen departing from Journal Square, while a Journal Square - 33rd St train waits for its signal. Though the two services have separate platforms here, they share a track east of the platforms, thus requiring one train to wait for the other.
While riding public transit in the evening… watching the urban landscape outside makes for inspired imagery.
If you combine a snowstorm with strong winds, this is not my favorite road for a Winter walk. Luckily for me, no such problems during yesterday's snowfall.
During the day, ferries such as this operate between Male Airport and Male city every 15 minutes - even though the journey between the two is only some 10 minutes by car or motorcycle across the Sinemale bridge.

Getting a good photo of the rails, trains, and depot has been surprisingly difficult. Even though it is a big, open space, finding the right time where the light illuminates the whole railyard was more of a hassle than I expected. Thankfully, I was able to catch this train as it was pulling out of North Station!
The MBTA Commuter Rail is one of the busiest suburban/light rail lines in the country. It connects a lot of the commuter towns and suburbs within the Boston metro area, with Boston itself, allowing people to commute without dealing with the atrocious traffic! For those who are interested, the train in this photo is a legacy EMD GP40MC, the oldest rolling stock on the rail, pulling a much newer Kawasaki trainset.

An Irish rail 22000 DMU heads eastwards across the Curragh, Co Kildare under a fine May evening sky..
Northstar 1901, the only northbound reverse commuter train scheduled, makes its 6:40AM departure right on schedule. While the Twin Cities seem to have a healthy multimodal/transit infrastructure, commuter rail has really struggled since the pandemic. These reverse commute trains were among those added in late 2023 in an effort to reverse a ridership death spiral. Time will tell if it's enough to keep the service viable.

a figure fades in motion, pulling the weight of the city's stories behind them. the glass ceiling reflects a maze of light and steel, a fractured symphony of the underground. münchner freiheit hums softly with echoes of departures, arrivals, and the spaces in between. the blurred silhouette speaks of fleeting moments—here, then gone—leaving traces only the reflections can hold.
