Commuting in Tokyo is not always the most pleasant experience. Often it can be down right miserable. I go to great lengths to avoid the crowded times on the train. When I can't avoid them I make sure I have a camera ready as there is always good photo opportunities.
Read about the rest of this day on ShootTokyo:
Today's commute was from a village on the Sea of Marmara where we are doing a 3-day bazaar to my village home in Iznik - a 2-hour drive through mountains and farms. It's almost as relaxing as the Bosphorus ferry ride home at night! The light was gorgeous - my biggest problem being finding someplace safe to pull over so that I could shoot!
Near Yalakdere on the Karamursel-Boyalica road.
The framing of the bike might not be "Grant-Approved," but I saw the train blasting across the bridge and only just barely managed to get off the trail and line up a shot at all!

My 1986 Miyata 710, home after the commute to school. The downtube shifters are neat, but I'll have bar-end shifters installed next week.
This week was my first multi-modal commute combining my Brompton folding bicycle and my new smart fortwo electric drive.
My home and work are about 18 miles / 30km apart, which is much further than I'd like to bike. So instead, I put my folding bike in the boot, drive halfway, park in a convenient neighborhood close to the freeway exit, and bike the remainder of the trip, much of it on a pleasant creekside multi-use trail.
