A photo I took a few weeks back with the TiltShift Generator + Mill Colour method, but with the addition of Autostitch for the panorama. The photo is a little blurry, but still interesting to see how you can use panoramas with TiltShift Gen & Mill Colour and get good results.

I like getting work in Oxford. The cycle ride though the City is the best commute I have. This photograph is made after crossing Magdelene bridge with the tower of Magdelene College on the rght.

I have been out all weekend long without a computer or internet access...this is just a quick post to say hello and that I will catch up with everyone over the week. :)

Bike Commute Breakfast at City Hall

A classic Polish express passenger locomotive, 2-8-2 Pt 47 65 near Rosnowko heading the early morning Wolsztyn to Poznan 'commuter' service in fine form, shortly before sunrise on a misty 2nd September 2001.

(Taken with a Mamiya 645 fitted with a 210mm lens and mounted on a tripod. Scanned from an Agfa Scala B&W transparency).

Pt 47 65 was one of 180 locomotives built by Cegielsko (80) and Chrzanow (80) after the Second World War, the first appearing in 1948. These engines took advantage of the 16 years of technical development of the previously-built 2-8-2 class, the Pt31 . The Pt47 class worked most of the heavy express passenger trains in the non-electrified areas of PKP during the 'last days of steam'.

If you're driving north on I-5 don't be surprised by the 17-foot-tall pinup girl gracing the side of Chris Brugos's house.

SEATTLE - In a recently released movie she was "The Notorious Bettie Page." Now a Ravenna homeowner has made Page Seattle's most visible pinup girl.

Just east of Interstate 5, the side of Chris Brugos's house features a giant painting of the nearly nude Page. His pal John Green painted the 1950s girlie magazine icon on the side of Chris' house as a birthday gift.

"He thought it was a great place to put something so a lot of people could see it," say Brugos. "And he knows I like pinup girls."

Bettie Page posed for thousands of racy photos in the 1950s and early 1960s. Fans say her apple-pie wholesomeness shines through even her most salacious poses. In recent years, young collectors have become an eager new audience for Page memorabilia.

Brugos says Green projected Page's image onto the side of his house and used that image for a template. It took Green 24 hours over two weeks to complete the artwork.

The neighborhood's reaction has "all been favorable," Brugos says. "I live next to a Mormon church and people were worried about their response, because she is mostly naked. But so far, there has been no negative response at all." The 17-foot-tall pinup is easily visible from northbound I-5. Just look to your right as you approach the Northeast 65th Street exit.

Old mid-80s Stumpjumper Sport I adopted as my commuting bike until recently. 'Upgraded' it with new pedals (MKS Sylvan), fenders (SKS), panniers (Arkel), tires (Schwalbe), and a new helmet. Wanted to make sure I was able to be seen by Houston's notoriously idiotic traffic -- hence why I've gone almost overboard with all the blinkies, lights, and reflective tape/stickers (see notes). It has 26" wheels (now with a 1.5" tire in the front and a 1.75" in the back -- both with the reflective stripe all the way around [photo shows old tires]), so is a tad small for me at 6'1" but was worth it as I didn't have to buy a new or used bike while trying out bike commuting.

As I've kept with bike commuting, I've upgraded my bike to a Bianchi San Jose (a single speed).

St Albans to the City of London is reputed to be Britain's "most expensive commute".

Rather than take the train, I decided to travel overland and see what I could see...
