Fortunately though, a kind-hearted person came forward and sponsored her. Since then, her life began to transform. Staff at the project counseled her and encouraged her to study well. When she failed in 10th std., her father began to curse her as “good-for-nothing.” She was dejected beyond measure. However, the staff helped her overcome her situation. Later, she defied all odds to complete her B.Com. Besides, she did 1-year computer course in CSC. Furthermore, she did 1-year advance computer course at Katpadi, Vellore.
Her persistent efforts paved way to success. She was appointed as an instructor in a computer center that has 70 students.
Today, she earns Rs. 5000 every month. The collector of Krishnagiri gave her a three-wheeler bike so that she can travel with ease.
Kavitha’s life shows that disability can never impede one’s future. Although being empathetic towards these children would help, treating them as inferior beings is one of the main reasons for most of these children’s exceptional talent going unnoticed. It’s time we paid attention not to their disability but to their special ability.
