Gavin Blevins is the Town Mananger in Damascus looks down at some of the recent walkway in Damascus. Damascus Community Pathways Project creates a more personal connection between the town of Damascus and the Appalachian Trail, offering hikers and loved ones a chance to purchase engraved bricks to be placed on the portion of the trail that runs through Damascus.
To celebrate at the culmination of our opening week events, we hosted our Community Open House on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, from noon to 2:30 p.m. Groups of a cappella singers, dancers, and musicians filled the center as we opened up our spaces and invited the public to poke around. Elise Witt led An Impromptu Glorious Chorus at the end of the open house and invited everyone to join in. After the open house, we welcomed our second performers, the conductorless ensemble Sphinx Virtuosi.
The annual event, hosted by the Office of Community Partnerships, connects the worlds of academia and civic service to create vital social programs inside and outside of Boston.

First year growing corn and it is doing really well.
HCC students and faculty participated in the 13th Annual Cesar Chavez Parade on Saturday, March 31. The parade proceeded north on Chavez Boulevard, turned east on Ave Q/JW Peavey and ended at Hidalgo Park where there was a short presentation by local politicians at the Gazebo.

The June Key Delta Community Center, located in North Portland, is a renovation of a former brownfield site, a gas station surrounded by asphalt pavement, for use as a community center. This project is currently pursuing certification through the Living Building Challenge.

These community gardens in Shoreditch offer a rare chance for local residents to enjoy gardening and other activities, as well as providing a meeting area. They have worked hard to turn former wasteland into something really vibrant and worthwhile. And yet this project is under threat by developers and in less than two years this land is scheduled to be built on. So another area of green space will disappear under concrete and glass...just seems a shame to me.

Community Day was the culmination of BAMPFA's Grand Opening Week. The museum doors were thrown open for twelve hours to mark this historic occasion. Visitors got a first look at our inaugural exhibition, Architecture of Life. The day included DJs spinning records, dance performanes, a weaving workshop, and other impromptu happenings throughout the building, organized by artist David Wilson. Photo: Joseph Driste.

Dublin City Libraries were delighted to be back at the Rose Festival this year. There was plenty of activity around the Library in the Community van and the Lord Mayor of Dublin even popped by to say hello. Our library tent played host to some great family events including he Gruffalo puppet show and photogram workshop.

Package seeds to share in individual bags, and label them with the name of the flower, vegetable or herb, required growing conditions, and date of harvest. Can include unused commercial seeds in original packages no more than one year old. Non-hybridized seeds preferred. Extra seeds available. In partnership with Howard County Master Gardeners.
