Most communities in Edmonton have an outdoor community hockey rink and usually a smaller area without boards. There's been an unusually long period with little moisture and it's been warmer than normal.
"A new outdoor photo exhibit was recently unveiled at the Salvo Community Cemetery, also known as the Salvo Day Use Cemetery, which outlines the history of the area, the years-long efforts to bring attention to the historic site, and the continued threat of coastal erosion to soundside Salvo, and the Outer Banks in general. T The new exhibit, which consists of a 41.5-foot-long and weather-proof mesh banner, includes photos of Hatteras Island residents interred at the cemetery, as well as a synopsis of the cemetery’s role in the history of the island, and the challenges the site continues to encounter in the age of climate change.
The nearly 150-year-old cemetery, which is bordered on all sides by National Park Service land within the popular Salvo Day Use Area, has been continually battered by storms and erosion, particularly over the last 10-20 years."
By 2016, headstones had broken, washed away, or had been removed by concerned family members who worried they could disappear altogether, and tombs were becoming exposed as the soundfront area steadily receded from a regular onslaught of high water and waves. Two local groups, Hatteras Island Genealogical and Historic Preservation Society and the Rodanthe-Waves-Salvo Civic Association, responded by launching fundraising campaigns to raise the estimated $120,000 to protect the site, and in the years that followed, the group was able to add a protective bulkhead and armor rock barrier, as well as install fencing and signage signifying the site’s importance."

Chinatown, People's Park complex. This place is iconic, and also a little bit rough. Close to the Chinatown tourist precinct, this is a refreshing slice of life, quite raw and real. Nikon FM3a film shot.
Esperanza Community Services was founded by Guadalupe Reyes in 1969 as a school for children whose learning needs were not met in traditional classrooms. It now provides an alternate school for more than 60 full-time students ranging from kindergarten to 22-years-old with developmental disabilities, as well as services for around 70 adults, including in-home and at group homes in the neighborhood. The center is predominantly housed in the former St. Columbkille Catholic School at 520 N. Marshfield Ave. Since Esperanza moved into the structure in the 1970s, it has received few upgrades and major repairs. A recently received $585,230 grant will allow for renovation to commence this fall, coordinating with the ongoing school year with an estimated completion by 2024.
Organized in 1859, St. Columbkille Church was located at 1638 W. Grand Ave. In 1899, the Sisters of Providence took charge when the Holy Cross Brothers withdrew and Father Dunne invited the sisters to take charge of the boys’ school. In 1907, the sisters also took charge of the girls’ school due to the withdrawal of the Sisters of Charity. Boys and girls were in separate rooms. The grammar school for the girls developed into a full eight grades and a commercial high school. Because of the lack of available sisters, the grammar school closed in 1971. The commercial school closed in 1969. The church, since demolished, closed in 1975.
Anacortes Community Forest Lands. Nikon Coolpix L22.
The Community Forest Lands cover nearly 2,800 acres within the City of Anacortes. They encompass a mosaic of forest, wetlands, lakes and meadows coupled with the broad based desire of local citizens to act as stewards for this environmental and recreational resource.
There are 50 miles of multiple use trails in the forest lands. All trails are open to hikers, bicycle & horse riders. - ACFL
