'Pale Communion'
I've had this concept in my head for awhile now, I just haven't acted on it, as in my head it was quite simple to arrange. However, a perfect opportunity came about in the form of a workshop I put together, and as part of shoots I like to organize I figured this would be a good time to do it.
This particular shot was organized by one of the guys who came to the workshop, I was very pleased with it.

"None of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself."489 "If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it."490 "Charity does not insist on its own way."491 In this solidarity with all men, living or dead, which is founded on the communion of saints, the least of our acts done in charity redounds to the profit of all. Every sin harms this communion.

[RP Pic] "This old, echoing church is like this decrepit City; decaying. Yet someone keeps its central functions going. The communion table is pristine, the wine and the Host are tended lovingly, obviously by someone with great reverence for what they represent. Someone else who chooses to continue their function here in this awful, miserable place."
"Someone who also believes that life has a higher calling than the mere needs of survival.."

A renaissance style communion altar at the Swedenborgian Church of San Francisco. The main theme in this little church in the Pacific Heights area of SF is the presentation of natural objects, especially of the woods and forests.
Built in 1895, the Swedenborgian Church at the corner of Washington and Lyon Streets in Presidio Heights, San Francisco, is a National Historic Landmark. Warm and wooded, it was designed and constructed by prominent artists and architects of the 'Arts and Crafts' movement and is regarded as one of California's earliest buildings in that style.

"We find this movement of faith, too, in Holy Communion, if we’re open to it, because the Eucharist teaches us and transforms us to become Christ, so that we don’t just believe in him but grow to know him intimately. So, St Augustine imagines the Lord saying to him: “I am the food of grown men; grow, and you shall feed upon me; nor shall you change me, like the food of your flesh, into yourself, but you shall be changed into me”. For what happens is that because we love Christ and his Word of truth, and, in faith, we remain in him, so he will remain in us, and unite us to himself. So, as Pope Benedict put it: “We never have [truth]; at best it has us”. And when Truth, God himself, has us, when we’re possessed by Love, then we enjoy eternal life!"
