Communication Collaboration Cooperation UBCM 2018

What: A book by Ruben Pater published / paid for by BIS publishers in The Netherlands.

For: Students of Visual Communication.

Politics of Design is a collection of visual examples from around the world. Using ideas from anthropology and sociology, it creates surprising and educational insight in contemporary visual communication.

The examples relate to the daily practice of both online and offline visual communication: typography, images, colour, symbols, and information. The text explores the importance of visual literacy when communicating beyond borders and cultures. It explores the cultural meaning behind the symbols, maps, photography, typography, and colours that are used every day. It is a practical guide for design and communication professionals and students to create more effective and responsible visual communication.

Enhances your visual literacy for communication beyond borders and cultures. It is full of examples of political meaning in graphic design. And it is great for students to create more effective and responsible visual communication.

... or do we care too much about communication and too little about the message?

There's something in this pic I really like - I don't really know what it is though...

The BBCA members who could speak mandarin Chinese were put to good use as interpreters.

My eye was initially caught by the graffiti; as I looked further the complexity of the scene and the colour combinations attracted me. I can't make much sense out of the graffiti words. They look half-finished - in partcular missing the top of the letters. Perhaps the authors couldn't reach? Maybe the handy ladder will be pressed into play next time. Quite possibly there is a different story or stories in this scene. Life is full of these little puzzles.
