The 0655 Bristol East Depot to St Austell via the Fowey branch is seen passing a local welcoming committee on the sea wall at Teignmouth. The wall was shrouded in some light sea mist so the promised sun hadn't materialised yet.
The two LSL 37s were immaculately turned out as was the stock.

The naming committee must have been in a bad mood when they came up with those names. These 2 tiny butterflies (both about 2.5cm/1 inch wingspan) are endangered due to loss of habitats. Maybe if they were called something like 'Chocolate and Cream' and 'Dusky Maiden', people would take more care. Photographed at Fermyn Woods Country Park, Northants 24Apr22
Went for a brief outing this past weekend to the arboretum near us for a change of scenery.
One of the first things I spotted in the brush as we approached the footbridge was this little green Anole lizard. Clearly he spotted us, too.
BUT, as I paused to get some shots from different angles, this little green Anole turned into an angry little brown Anole and flashed that dewlap at me - Move Along Human! So I did.
*** Upon closer inspection I do see hints of brown on the head, legs and tail but all I saw when I was there was green.
*** Not so welcoming committee shot in comment box below. 🔻
This lovely line-up greeted us when we stopped for a walk thru the wild tussock and rock piles.

One from Padley but earlier in the year during similar conditions to Friday last week.
It looks as though nature is convening over important matters around the central moss covered stone.
This took second place for my 365 shot for the day and I think I prefer this over the one I picked on the day.
I don't visit Churchill National Park more than three or four times a year, so it was a delightful surprise to be greeted by this Welcome Committee, consisting of a Tawny Frogmouth pair and their offspring just 50 meters from the parking area. Even though the mother was catching some sleep, it did not dampen my joyful mood one bit.

I planted these four daffodil sisters this past autumn and today they were all blooming! Here's what's so neat! As you drive into the yard, they stand as a welcoming committee on the left side of the driveway.

Any resemblance to an actual executive committee is purely coincidental.

Sedona Committee Fire 2: I was in Sedona for a mini-trip at the same time a lightning-ignited wildfire sprung up on the top of Mund's Mountain. During various times, it looked like the fire was fully suppressed, but then suddenly on Sunday evening, a nearby storm with high winds increased the fire activity quite significantly, and made it change direction to go more towards town. I drove around a bit right after sunset and found this view of Snoopy Rock (middle of the foreground) being illuminated by the back-lighting of the fire behind it. I was grateful to the fire fighting personnel who spent all day using various aircraft to suppress the fire as well as ground crews who were deployed by helicopter. The ambient temperature even without this fire has been extremely hot, and I can only imagine the oven-like inferno it must feel like being in its midst.
Can't pretend any longer that I haven't struggled to get out of late, particularly with the poor evening light we've been having in London so here's an old fave of mine, shot at my local vintage furniture shop, re-edited for my exhibition earlier this year. Apologies for to anyone who liked this earlier, had to delete the first post because I posted the wrong edit! :-)

A pair of West Midlands Trains Class 172 DMUs, with No. 172220 leading, draw into a very wet Bordesley on 4th March 2024, while forming service 2D59 1240 Worcester Foregate Street - Stratford-upon-Avon. Bordesley normally is visited only once a week by a parliamentary service, but as the station is just a short walk to Birmingham City's St Andrews stadium a number of services are rescheduled to call at the station on match days for the benefit of the fans. Security staff are on hand to deal with the crowds, as these services are well used by the supporters. Copyright Photograph John Whitehouse - all rights reserved
At Dauset Trails Nature Center our all-time favorite spot to visit is the Lotus Pond. A nice sized pond located at the end of a short trail, bordered on one side with towering pines and on the other side by an open grassy field.
Here is where you can find all kinds of beauties, and little beasties, if only you know where to look. Once we approached the pond I grabbed this shot of the welcoming committee - a couple of their water lilies.
Upon editing this later, I noticed a rather 'large' looking spider lurking on the edge of one of the lily pads in front of and to the left of the pink waterlily. And then, I noticed what looks like a small damselfly just to the left of the white waterlily!
This is one of the many things I've come to love about the Lotus Pond - every time we visit, there will be at least one "find" in one of the photos that I didn't see when we were there.

They are the first thing you see right off the ferry. I have to say that the doggie was not very welcoming. Barked and growled like crazy. But the guy was very charming and together they made for a colorful pair.

On the way home from running errands. Stopped at a roadside traffic sign "island" with faded, tired old woodchip mulch and debris. But now there are also glorious little bouquets of purple crocus popping up everywhere - the volunteer Beautification Committee.
Maybe the thing that surprised me the most in the UK was the abundance of birds. Woods and even suburbs seemed to teem with them, and even the parks in London had lots of life. I didn't take any camera except the phone so this didn't translate into many pictures, but it certainly increased my enjoyment of the trip. Eurasian chaffinch pair on the West Highland Way, Scotland.
As I adore CH and I know that most of you also, I thought that this could be my choice to make my black bird bitties! Once again, I ask all of you for apoligizes since I am late this round! But I will do my best to worth the wait!
