White-bellied Sea-Eagle
Scientific Name: Haliaeetus leucogaster
Description: The White-bellied Sea-Eagle has white on the head, rump and underparts and dark grey on the back and wings. In flight the black flight feathers on the wings are easily seen when the bird is viewed from below. The large, hooked bill is grey with a darker tip, and the eye is dark brown. The legs and feet are cream-white, with long black talons (claws). The sexes are similar. As in other raptors (birds of prey), Males (2.5 kg - 3.7 kg) are slightly smaller than females (2.8 kg - 4.2 kg).The wingspan is about 1.8 m - 2 m. Young Sea-Eagles are brown as juveniles than slowly become to resemble adults in a patchwork manner, acquiring the complete adult plumage by their fourth year.
Similar species: The White-bellied Sea-Eagle is the second largest raptor (bird of prey) found in Australia. The largest is the Wedge-tailed Eagle, Aquila audax, which stands up to 1 m tall. The Wedge-tailed Eagle is mostly brown, with a wedge-shaped tail. Young Sea-Eagles may be confused with the Wedge-tailed Eagle, but differ in having a paler head and tail and more steeply upswept wings when soaring.
Distribution: White-bellied Sea-Eagles are a common sight in coastal and near coastal areas of Australia. In addition to Australia, the species is found in New Guinea, Indonesia, China, south-east Asia and India
Habitat: White-bellied Sea-Eagles are normally seen perched high in a tree, or soaring over waterways and adjacent land. Birds form permanent pairs that inhabit territories throughout the year.
Feeding: The White-bellied Sea-Eagle feeds mainly off aquatic animals, such as fish, turtles and sea snakes, but it takes birds and mammals as well. It is a skilled hunter, and will attack prey up to the size of a swan. Sea-Eagles also feed on carrion (dead prey) such as sheep and fish along the waterline. They harass smaller birds, forcing them to drop any food that they are carrying. Sea-Eagles feed alone, in pairs or in family groups.
Breeding: White-bellied Sea-Eagles build a large stick nest, which is used for many seasons in succession. The nest can be located in a tree up to 30m above the ground, but may also be placed on the ground or on rocks, where there are no suitable trees. At the start of the breeding season, the nest is lined with fresh green leaves and twigs. The female carries out most of the incubation of the white eggs, but the male performs this duty from time to time.
Calls: Distinctive loud "goose-like" honking call, which is heard particularly during the breeding season.
Minimum Size: 75cm
Maximum Size: 85cm
Average size: 80cm
Average weight: 2 630g
Breeding season: May to October
Clutch Size: Two.

Take care and stay healthy!
Tattooing in Burma was a widespread custom practiced by various ethnic groups, including the Chin, Bamar, Shan, and Karen until the 20th century.
Tattooing was a distinguishing cultural marker.
Southern Chin women were also tattooed on their faces with closely set lines using blue pigments, ostensibly to discourage them from being kidnapped by invaders. Chin women were typically tattooed between the ages of 15 and 20. The practice has quickly disappeared, as it was banned in the 1960s by Burma's socialist regime and it was discouraged by Christian missionaries.

Musk Lorikeet
Glossopsitta concinna
Bird Overview: The Musk Lorikeet specialises in feeding on the nectar which is produced by flowering eucalypts, and sometimes also from the flowers of banksias and grevilleas. They collect nectar with their brush-shaped tongues. Musk Lorikeets are usually seen feeding in large noisy flocks in the canopy of eucalypts, often associating with other nectar-feeding birds, especially Rainbow Lorikeets and honeyeaters. The movements of Musk Lorikeets are often correlated with the flowering of trees, with birds appearing when the trees are in bloom, and leaving after the flowering has finished.
Identification: The Musk Lorikeet is a medium-sized, sturdy lorikeet, sometimes seen in large flocks when trees are flowering and often in mixed flocks with other parrots and other birds. They are active and noisy. This lorikeet is mostly green, with a yellow patch at the side of the breast. It has a bright red forehead and band through the eye to the ear coverts. The crown is blue, with females having less blue than males. In flight, brown flight feathers and the golden tail are revealed. Flight is fast and direct, with short angular wings and a medium-length, pointed to wedge-shaped tail.
Songs and Calls: The usual contact call is a shrill metallic screech, higher than the Rainbow Lorikeet, in flight and when perched. They constantly chatter when feeding.
Habitat: Musk Lorikeets are found in tall, open, dry forest and woodlands, dominated by eucalypts and are usually found in the canopy. They are also seen in suburban areas, parks and street trees. They roost or loaf in tall trees away from their feeding sites.
Behaviour: Musk Lorikeets are gregarious, often mixing with other parrots when feeding, including Scaly-breasted Lorikeets, Little Lorikeets and Swift Parrots.
Feeding: Musk Lorikeets feed in all levels of the canopy and are very active when foraging. They eat mainly pollen and nectar from eucalypts using their specialised brush-tipped tongues, but also eat seeds, fruits and insects and their larvae.
Breeding: Musk Lorikeets breed in hollow branches and holes in living eucalypts, often near watercourses. The entrance holes are usually very small, so they have to squeeze in. Eggs are laid on a base of chewed or decayed wood. The female incubate the eggs and both parents roost in the hollow at night.

Thank you all so much for such encouraging comments, and for the 3000+ faves.
Each Autumn I get two visits from these fungi in my garden. They seem to be part of circles with a radius of nearly 1 metre - hence the "fairy ring". They last a couple of days, then disintegrate, and presumably this is just long enough to set and distribute spores. I understand the whole circle is part of a single organism.

They came again a year later, but not in the same grouping.

Winge about Interestingness/Explore, and the arbitrary treatment of photos on Flickr.
For two years this was officially my most Interesting photo. Then, suddenly, it disappeared from my Most Interesting 200 photos list altogether. And it was kicked down from No.1 in the most interesting lists for a number of tags, to 500+ (if I could find it at all.).
I suppose I am grateful that it got all that exposure from two years as a most interesting photo. But I am also concerned that Flickr has that much control over the exposure that someone gets. I'm a very amateur photographer, but it could dramatically effect a professional.
(If interested, please see my "Banned from Explore" set -- www.flickr.com/photos/algo/sets/72157607021230533/ .)
Once top of the "most Interesting" of several Tags -- Fungi - toadstools - macro - mushrooms - autumn - closeup - Utata - - amongst others

My Books:
My book "Discover GUIMERÀ" (preview)
My book "Discover SANTA PAU" (preview)
"Gloomy Sunday" (from Hungarian "Szomorú vasárnap", IPA: ['somoruː 'vɒʃarnɒp]) is a song written by László Jávor and set to music in 1933 by Hungarian pianist and composer Rezső Seress, in which the singer mourns the untimely death of a lover and contemplates suicide. Gloomy Sunday had been announced as to be the most famous song for people to commit suicide.
Though recorded and performed by many singers, "Gloomy Sunday" is closely associated with Billie Holiday, who scored a hit version of the song in 1941. Due to unsubstantiated urban legends about its inspiring hundreds of suicides, "Gloomy Sunday" was dubbed the "Hungarian suicide song" in the U.S.. Seress did commit suicide in 1968, but most other rumors of the song being banned from radio, or sparking suicides, are unsubstantiated, and were partly propagated as a deliberate marketing campaign.
Sunday is Gloomy,
My hours are slumberless,
Dearest, the shadows I live
with are numberless
Little white flowers will never awaken you
Not where the black coach of
sorrow has taken you
Angels have no thought of
ever returning you
Would they be angry if I
thought of joining you
Gloomy Sunday
Sunday is gloomy
with shadows I spend it all
My heart and I have decided to end it all
Soon there'll be flowers and
prayers that are sad,
I know, let them not weep,
Let them know that I'm glad to go
Death is no dream,
For in death I'm caressing you
With the last breath of my soul
I'll be blessing you
Gloomy Sunday
Dreaming
I was only dreaming
I wake and I find you
Asleep in the deep of
My heart
Dear
Darling I hope that my
dream never haunted you
My heart is telling you how
much I wanted you
Gloomy Sunday
