Flamboyant colours of some flowers in my garden. They do clash a bit don't they? The Penstemon was planted there because It was very poorly and didn't look like it was going to survive, I just wanted to give it another chance.

Christchurch botanical gardens on a not so sunny Sunday afternoon walk... just get to the park and the sun disappears! August 26, 2012, Christchurch NZ.
The Christchurch Botanic Gardens, located in the central city of Christchurch, New Zealand are botanical gardens founded in 1863, when an English oak was planted on 9 July 1863 to commemorate the solemnisation of marriage between Prince Albert and Princess Alexandra of Denmark.
The Gardens sprawl over an area of 21 hectares and lie adjacent to the loop of the Avon River next to Hagley Park. The Christchurch Botanic Gardens have a variety of collection of exotic and local plants of New Zealand.

This autumn has highlighted some interesting colour combinations. I took this a while ago but was hoping for better weather as it was a very grey day. Unfortunately the leaves have now gone so I'll have to wait for another year for better light. It was the colours that caught my eye. In the foreground is a Rowan tree but I don't think it is the usual variety as the berries were quite orange rather than red, I think the leaf colour is different too. Behind the Rowan is a Common Ash which has gone a rather bright yellow (I've never seen so many yellow Ash trees previously). The next one is an ornamental Cherry, it too has gone an interesting colour. I'm sure that whoever planted these did not think of their autumn colours.
Just given the saturation a bit of a boost otherwise its sooc with a little crop.
Day 25, sorry its late, i felt really ill last night and just didnt fancy sitting on the computer looking at photos. Another random photo today, its a new hair band i brought at the weekend.

Maa Durga (Mother Durga)
Goddess Durga is the mother of the universe and believed to be the power behind the work of creation, preservation, and destruction of the world. Since time immemorial she has been worshipped as the supreme power of the Supreme Being and has been mentioned in many scriptures - Yajur Veda, Vajasaneyi Samhita and Taittareya Brahman.
In Hinduism, the Goddess Durga ("the inaccessible" or "the invincible") or Maa Durga (Mother Durga) "one who can redeem in situations of utmost distress". Durga is a form of Devi, the supremely radiant goddess, depicted as having ten arms, riding a lion or a tiger, carrying weapons (including a lotus flower), maintaining a meditative smile, and practicing mudras, or symbolic hand gestures.
An embodiment of creative feminine force (Shakti), Durga exists in a state of svātantrya (dependence on the universe and nothing/nobody else, i.e., self-sufficiency) and fierce compassion. Durga is considered by Hindus to be an aspect of Kali, and the mother of Ganesha, Saraswati, Lakshmi and Kartikeya. She is thus considered the fiercer, demon-fighting form of Lord Shiva's wife, Goddess Parvati. Durga manifests fearlessness and patience, and never loses her sense of humor, even during spiritual battles of epic proportion.
The word Shakti, means divine feminine force, and Durga is the warrior aspect of the Divine Mother, where She wins over evil.

Bent, twisted and tangled
This large eucalyptus tree shows its age with each twisted branch and gnarled limb. It has grown and shed many branches and much bark as well as a canopy of leaves that have been blown about and sometimes off as it stands proud among the others in the bush surrounding it. This is a home for many creatures which are too small to see and a perching and calling place for birds which no doubt often find a tasty treat among its generous multi-branched crown.
I just love its textures and colours as well as the intricate network of branches extending outward and upward to the light.

EXPLORED
You with the sad eyes
Don't be discouraged
Oh I realize
It's hard to take courage
In a world full of people
You can lose sight of it all
And the darkness there inside you
Makes you feel so small
But I see your true colours
Shining through
I see your true colours
That's why I love you
So don't be afraid to let them show
Your true colours
True colours are beautiful,
Like a rainbow.
