A handsome young couple from the Kachari tribe pose for me at the Hornbill Festival,Nagaland.The north-east of India is famous for its beautiful weaves and from the girl's dress you can see why.
Nagaland is a state in the north-east corner of India.It is a beautiful mountaneous state inhabited by 16 major tribes each with its own distinct culture,language,dress and traditions.English is the official language and the population is mostly Christian.Agriculture is the major activity and rice,corn,millets,tobacco,potato,sugarcane etc. are the major crops.
The Hornbill Festival is held between 1st to 10th of December every year in the Naga Heritage village,Kisama built for the purpose some 12 kms. from the state capital Kohima.It is aimed at showcasing the distict culture and traditions of each tribe and promoting inter-tribal interaction through dance,music,food festivals,sports,and other events. Items made from bamboo and wood,beautiful bead necklaces, woollen shalws and other local handicrafts are also on display.It is a colourful and very interesting event and has become a major tourist attraction over the years.
Colors are the smiles of nature. I loved the richness of colours in this picture I took a few weeks ago.

This is another photo of my Canola series trip.
Don't know what else i want to say about this photo. But I was really impressed with the Canola field and took quite a few of photos of them~~ hopefully you're not getting bored with it~~ hehe....

I don't remember the weather forecast saying that we would be getting snow today, 28 October 2016 - I'm sure it only said rain. Anyway, it's snowing again this morning, with a temperature of 0°C (32°F) and windchill -2°C (28°F).
Usually, I don't have three long day outings within five days, except during the Christmas Bird Counts, but two days ago, I was lucky enough to go with friends, Shirley and Anne, for a day's outing SW and SE of the city.
We had a very early start, 7:00 am, and drove west of the city to start with, driving to the far end of Elbow Falls Trail (Highway 66). While at Elbow Falls, we saw a pair of American Dippers flying from rock to rock. They were vocalizing, too, which I had never heard before.
Though there seemed to be very few birds to be seen all day, we were so lucky to see a total of four Moose - two at each of two different locations SW of the city. It is always nice to see a Moose, and to see four in one day was a real treat. The second two were fairly young ones, and I took this quick shot while photographing these youngsters.
From Elbow Falls Trail, we drove down through the Millarville area and finally ended up east of High River. We found one of the Great Horned Owls that everyone had been following earlier in the year, along with a nearby little American Tree Sparrow. We did see a few Hawks, including a Rough-legged Hawk on a hay bale and a very dark morph Hawk later in the day.

It was certainly true, the further north in America we ventured the brighter the autumnal display.
Whilst staying in Whitefish (Northern Montana) with friends, Megan persuaded me to take a hike up Big Mountain, or have they changed its name to Whitefish Mountain. When outside of the trees our hiking route would take us through a continuous display of these autumn colours.

Chrysanthemum: the big blooms often duo toned, collectively known as kotengiku or antique chrysanthemums.
Still a touch of the vibrant red and green of Summer and already the paler golds of Autumn...
Autumn is a season tinged with the beauty of colours and yet also with some nostalgia...
Another Summer gone, the 'dark' months upon us, with the season of light getting closer!
