I love the colours, set-up, textures, euuuhh, everything?
Just some fun with pencils/props and lights in the studio, always the same... one idea sparks off another...
I love being a creative, it is the spice of (my) life. I cannot imagine 'not' having it...
I used recycled pencils for this image.
I cannot resist the, spotted a funky rubber to go with them, made the composition in my head, right there!
So colourful and attractive?
The child in me. I still LOVE to write in pencil, it brings out my best handwriting!

Back at St. Martins today. It's a holiday in Canada. Victoria Day. Or as we called it in Ontario, the 2/4 Weekend. (A reference to a case of beer on a camping trip. lol) This little porch is the entry way to the Bay of Fundy Adventures building. Love the colours. I'm starting a new album called, "Chairs Of New Brunswick". This will be photo #1. It ws very busy in St. Martins today. Many people view this as the unofficial start of summer. School won't be out for another month, but, people are itching to get outdoors again. The weather was fine, and the Octopus Ice Cream establishment was rockin'. lol They needed all 8 tentacles to keep up.
Though the tree has no leaves left, he is still colourful. This must be a kind of magic ;-)
The technique: I come from the analogue era so i use double exposures. I make one manual exposure for the sky ( a little underexposed, hence i loose no details in the sky) and one manual exposure for the foreground. In cases like this where the element from the foreground reaches into the sky i use luminance masks to combine the two images.
I use my own camera profile which i created with the gretagmacbeth colour chart to get the exact colours i saw. The other presets in Photoshop or lightroom are far off the reality, only the neutral adobe preset comes closeset to my preset. Then i check the wb and the contrast, and thats it.
One thing i learned for photos that were shot into the sun or show a lot of sky is NOT to USE CLARITY. Clarity destroys the glow of the sun and makes clouds look weird. You can use it when shooting architecture, cars or something with structure (bricks etc.), but not for clouds or when you shoot directly into the sun or show a large portion of the sky. Or you can use it when you a clarity addict and want to get a cartoon look for your image.

This was my entry for our Wakering Photography Group November’s 16” X 12” printed challenge, the theme being “Autumn Colours”
My sister Jan was kind enough to treat me to a day out in London for my birthday, it certainly was a packed day.
These umbrellas at Camden Lock Market were the perfect colour range, I am pleased to say the group voted this in 2nd place.

All day today I had people tell me what an amazing sunrise it was and then ask me was I down the beach for it and I actually slept through the whole thing. Got home this evening and still filtering through my shots whilst I was away I came across a shot that I took on the morning that I returned to Sydney from my balcony. It was a beautiful morning that day and the colours swept across the sky in 5 minutes and then were gone .
I also heard from my neighbours this evening that there is a building going up shortly that will obstruct this view . Fingers crossed that Bondi will stage a repeat performance for me tomorrow morning ;).

First time we have seen these at Lake Hindmarsh (they are there, but our first time!) quite a distance away, think we will have to go back with a packed dinner and hope they come closer!!

This set of four Nyonya (or Malaysian Chinese/Peranakan) ceramic 'paintings' was on display at the Nyonya Colours restaurant at the Glo Damansara mall.
Each has three Phoenix surrounded by floral designs depicted. Traditional Chinese Malaysian Nyonya/Baba ceramics are slightly unusual in that while the Phoenix (associated with femininity) is often depicted, Dragons (the masculinity symbol), seldom appears.
October 2025
