Theme: "Funk"
The work "funk" turns out to have a facinating etymology.
Great Falls in the Waterdown section of Hamilton was lit up again with coloured spotlights on January 16, 2010. Some lights were placed behind the ice in the cave under the waterfall.
This photo shows the water falling into its newly formed ice volcano.

This year Vivid Sydney Festival organizers chose to make the walls and ceiling of the historic Argyle Cut, in the Rocks, the focus of an interesting and colourful daisy chain and roses lightshow.
The Argyle Cut is located on Argyle St in Sydney's Rocks district. It is a short tunnel cut by convicts through the sandstone ridge of The Rocks to connect Sydney Cove with Darling Harbour and Millers Point. It was considered an engineering challenge for its day when it was started in 1843 by convicts with hammers and chisels. However it was successfully completed in 1867 with the help of explosives. It is possible today to walk through the Argyle Cut to the corner of Lower Fort Rd.
While the lightshows around the harbour are stunning it is worth noting that there is just so much more to the Vivid Sydney Festival and more than one night does need to be allocated to see all that this festival has to offer.
Check out the website for much more.

A couple of photos from the "Luminaire" event at Chatsworth House, that saw the house and gardens lit up with coloured lighting and projections for a couple of autumnal nights.
Quite thankful I managed to get a few good photos - we could only manage the sunday evening, and the forecast was lousy, with rain and very high winds - luckily it held off while we were there!
My day had started at Attingal some 7hr away and after attending a wedding, I had sat through a long trip to Trichur by car. It was past 01:00 now. I was hot, sweaty, tired, sleepy but excited- I was having a great time, despite my marked dislike for large crowds. I asked someone to take a shot of me against the gaily decorated temple as a couple walk past with their kid, unmindful of the photography in progress. In most places people have the courtesy to pause or at least walk around.I do it all the time as well. Oh well. Sorry about my disheveled appearance though!(Trichur/ Thrissur, Kerala, India, Apr. 2016)
Back at my favourite spot - the illuminated Gosford Street underpass (Coventry Ring Road/Ringway Whitefriars atop). I wonder how long these coloured lighting effects will remain in place after they fail or get damaged! NX Coventry 2162 Volvo B7RLE/Wright pauses at the stop here heading to the Rail Station and Finham on service 9.
Seems slightly weird that Wrightbus use the 'Eclipse' name for a single-decker body when their double deck product carries the same name?! Presumably the manufacturing process is similar and some of the parts used in construction are shared. Wrights tend to adopt different secondary names for their bodies when built on different chassis. 'Eclipse Gemini' on the Volvo B7TL chassis and so on.
