Wilhelm Thony (1888-1949) : New York - East River, 1936. When more than 1000 of his pictures stored in a warehouse in New York were destroyed by fire, this meant the loss of almost his entire life's work
This is the meteorite collection of Dr. Phil Plait. A lot of reflective surfaces made this a difficult lighting setup but patience won out in the end.

Adelaide Arcade is a shopping arcade in the centre of Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1885 with 50 stores, the arcade grew to over 100 shops through the addition of a balcony area in the 1960s. It was one of the first buildings in South Australia to have electric-powered lights.
The arcade is said to be haunted with at least three ghosts claimed to be on the premises. One of these ghosts, (believed to be Francis Cluney, an early caretaker of the arcade who died after falling into the electricity generator in 1887), was claimed to have been recorded on security footage in 2008.

More I found in a shoe box today. I rememer every each one of them how I got them and I how played with them. Please don't just throw the toys away just because you are grown up and heading for the bigger world. The bigger world has no warmth as your childhood. Those trouble free merry days that you can not go back forever.
Each piece is individually decorated by hand and I love the colour combination of yellow, teal blue and red, on the matt brown background with the white raised glazed freeform line. They have an incredible stylised 1950s feel to them and remind me of Piet Mondrian paintings

This is my collection of Japanese dolls. I have collected all of these personally, having hunted in antique and thrift stores across the country. Some have faces of silk and others are made from gofun - a bisque-like substance made from oyster shells. Most of these probably made their way to America during the post-war period as souvenirs bought by soldiers. Some were probably brought as gifts from tourists and exchange students.
They aren't particularly valuable. You can go on eBay and select from the cream of the crop for not much money, but I prefer to seek them in person. There's nothing like finding a silk-draped figure elegantly standing on top of a pile of junk in some store somewhere. They come in all sizes and shapes. Some have very sweet faces. Some have fun stories behind them.
I think they are a lovely item to collect.
This "shelf" is an old drawer that was used to hold letters for printing newspapers.
Now it holds a collection of miscellaneous toys & what-nots....Homies, Wade Pottery, Micro-mini Cars, etc.
I'm a huge fan of the Hasbro Mighty Muggs toy line. These are some of the coolest action figures out there. Here is a collection of some of my fan art that I made to pay homage to the toy line.
