This is my collection of Japanese dolls. I have collected all of these personally, having hunted in antique and thrift stores across the country. Some have faces of silk and others are made from gofun - a bisque-like substance made from oyster shells. Most of these probably made their way to America during the post-war period as souvenirs bought by soldiers. Some were probably brought as gifts from tourists and exchange students.
They aren't particularly valuable. You can go on eBay and select from the cream of the crop for not much money, but I prefer to seek them in person. There's nothing like finding a silk-draped figure elegantly standing on top of a pile of junk in some store somewhere. They come in all sizes and shapes. Some have very sweet faces. Some have fun stories behind them.
I think they are a lovely item to collect.

This "shelf" is an old drawer that was used to hold letters for printing newspapers.
Now it holds a collection of miscellaneous toys & what-nots....Homies, Wade Pottery, Micro-mini Cars, etc.

I'm a huge fan of the Hasbro Mighty Muggs toy line. These are some of the coolest action figures out there. Here is a collection of some of my fan art that I made to pay homage to the toy line.

it was set for outdoor and cloudy and now everything looks yellow. blah.
Here is all my wheel caps (par another metal pug one that I've misplaced!) there is some really nice ones there like the old Fiesta and the Opel Corsa wheel cap. The most recent one to my collection is the Vauxhall Corsa :)

Wayne Gagnon writes, “Of special note on the 3689 picture, just barely visible under smokebox and headlight, is the nameplate 'Flying Yankee' and painted on cab sides is 'Flying Yankee.' Nos. 3689 and 3686 came out of Billerica Shops in June 1930 with special paint job and detailing and also had a larger, extended tender than her sister P-2s for additional water and coal. It would be five years before another 'Flying Yankee' arrived on scene (B&M#6000)."

My daughter's little collection of Momiji dolls ... I bought her the Christmas Angel as her first one this Christmas, and the Dance girl on right - because she loves to dance! The Birthday Girl on left with the pigtails was for her birthday in January. This collection is secretly for me, I adore these little cuties!
