Two bird shots from my garden this morning as could not go out today.

Black-collard Hawk - Busarellus nigricollis, feeds mainly on fish and other small prey.For best image view original image size.

It's so fun....the mating pair are always in this tree except to eat....then they're in the backyard at the feeder along with the Blackbirds, Robins and Finches!!!

Winter collard greens (Brassica oleracea) don't fear the cold.

3 Collard dove shots from the gdn this morning. Other than these, I only saw a few Blackbirds & a couple of distant Pigeons, all the other must be off to stake out their breeding patch's

I can't really see much of their collars...but I know the Mourning Doves calls, so I knew these weren't them. This is in my nieghbors big tree. Have a nice day everyone.

Not too many birds around the feeders this morning, so just took a photo of a Collard Dove.

It's no wonder folks eat collards on New Year's Day; its something green and fresh to eat straight from the garden at this time of year.

Thank you to the odd weather, even here in these northern most climbs, they're still out there this year - not growing - but in fine enough condition for eating.

There'll be some hoppin' john eating tomorrow.
