A striking wader that I'd only seen at a long distance through a scope before this encounter.
This bird obviously wondered who could be mad enough to lay in a saltmarsh with mosquitos all over their face so he walked over to me to have a look!
Because of my upper right arm fractured in three places I've had to resort to some archive material. Hope to get back to normal photography shortly.
These little birds were a joy to watch as the flew from branch to branch. Although not a rare species they were quite beautiful and extremely active. It has a very sweet song too which is often followed by a lovely trill !! Always a thrill to see new species !!!
This image was taken on our last trip to Costa Rica up in the mountains near Sevegre. There are many species of sparrows and this was the first time that we had seen this pssrticular one.
