Since moving to Canada, this is what I imagine my friend Matt doing all day in the Great White North: just standing on trees in a forest. The more accurate depiction would be drinking, partying, and runnin' game, but one can dream can't they?

Oulujoki, river of Oulu was steaming because temperature was negative 28 degrees. There was an ice hole swimming place next to this place and one woman was swimming out there... is that something or what ?

The kids came to the farm for a visit over Easter holidays. A newborn needed to be warmed up so the kids got a close and personal visit with the calf.

A rare encounter of a snow owl. She seemed to enjoy the attention. The only problem is that the weather was really cold.

Holy cats , was it cold today 16 F add in the wind chill from riding my bike , Brrr cold . While I was out riding my wife asked me to pick up some celery and spinach " come back quick " she said " if it freezes it's no good " . So I made the Produce Juction my last stop it didn't freeze in the 2.5 miles home . People like to see people challenging themselves , even if it's an old guy on a bicycle .

Taken through frost on a window at sunrise.

Finals are almost done with.

Then it's home & working for a month.

I have to save for my trip to Washington. I will be studying Killer Whales with a professor & 7 other students in May.

I cannot wait.

A delicate stalk of wild grass, bowed under a fresh layer of snow, takes center stage in this winter scene. The blurred background hints at a snowy landscape, possibly a field or forest edge, creating a serene and minimalist composition.

The walled show garden at Biltmore Estate, Asheville, NC, with freshly planted pansies in the foreground. They will be happy in the snow and the occasional freeze to which this ground is subject.

As I drove to work today, I realized that I kind of unknowingly dressed like Racer X from Speedracer. Except Im the chubby asian version of him.

Our temperatures have been much colder than usual here, so I figured things wouldn’t be doing as well as they should be. Usually our temperatures in December are in the 30′s. This December our temperatures have been in the 20′s and the teens. The days have also been very cloudy, which doesn’t help warm up the low tunnels.

I have 2 different varieties of spinach growing in my low tunnel ‘Catalina’ and ‘Giant Winter’. So far they both seem to be doing well, I think the ‘Catalina’ might be doing slightly better. We’ll see which variety starts producing faster when it warms in the spring.

February 6th 2015

This is an old picture I dug out and scanned. This is 30 years old.

It was 82 degrees F, on New Year's Day, we get a late night cold front, then the next morning the bird bath is frozen.

Saint Louis is a beautiful city: grand in its history and dignified in its modernity. I had the pleasure of visiting over the holidays and wish I could have stayed longer. Although they do say, "always leave something for next time."
