Terminal Warehouse Company Central Stores (George B. Mallory, Otto M. Beck, 1890-1891, with alterations by D'Oench & Yost). A mighty block of cold-storage space, from the boom years of the cold-storage business; see the work of Michael Osman for more on this period and this type of infrastructure. I like the teeny traces of Romanesque accents in the cornice. At left: corner of the Starrett-Lehigh Building (Russell G. and Walter M. Cory; Yasuo Matsui, 1930-1931). God bless the AIA Guide for getting down all the details.

Shot on the new PX-70 Color Shade film, on my SX-70, even with the dial set all the way to darken, it's totally blown out...and very yellow. Need to experiment more with this film or just use an ND filter... This photo is color corrected.
Put my arms through as far as i could manage through the gate to get this view of the inside of the cold storage. Marked up as an ice house on local maps.
It would be interesting to know when it was last used.

I have regular reminders since a packet of clams was bought while I ponder on and off how should I cook them. My mind is always on the spicy ones though. I finally got all the ingredients that should make the imaginary dish delectable. The outcome: I am really glad that the combo of ingredients I put in made them delicious :) This spicy dish should made a nice topping on laksa too if cockles are not available. Moreover, this dish could be cooked in advance. I had some leftovers and they tasted just great the next day!

I had used frozen clams bought from Coldstorage Supermarket. When thawed, I cut open each clam and removed the soft black innards. Hopefully, this extra step could remove most of the cholesterol. These calms were chewy BUT, delicious! ER was so satisfied with this seafood that he wanted to buy them again~
