What a day its been. Started out cold then it got springtime warm. Then when I got home just now a cold sea breeze kicked in... talk about crazy weather.

So what does a girl do?...Put on a stretchy tube skirt after a day of wearing jeans and pour a nice Chardonnay then put on her fluffy slippers and some music and relax.

There's nothing like girl time.....

Just got the Lightroom 1.1 and was trying the Cold Tone treatment. Didn't really like the result, but it is something different. Do you like it?

Switzerland, January 2005

It's 0443, it's cold, there's spits of rain in the air and a tad misty. I'm stood on Bidston station, a little to the west of Birkenhead, it's pitch black and I've got two 37's just inches away. And this is the result. A long 30 second exposure has brought the ambient light up just a bit too much, but any less and you'd see bugger all nothing.

97303 is now at the business end, 97302 having led up from Craven Arms, and 3S71 RHTT is ready to return along the Borderlands line to Wrexham. The white and green illuminating the trees behind the 37 is from the peg, ML579, showing a clear aspect with the feathers routing the train to the Borderlands.

I'm not keen on this at all, it's way removed from what I was trying to achieve. But its about the best I got all night, I suppose it's kinda dramatic in it's own way. Next time eh?

If you like that feeling of desolation, try Bidston at 0443. You might get lucky and see a Tractor or two. Or you may just end up cold and alone, wondering why someone would build a station in the middle of a field...

Shaler High School Stadium

Glenshaw, PA

I often walk the track at this high school stadium when I go to the public library nearby. I got there after dark one evening in winter and was glad I still had my point-&-shoot camera in my pocket. When I was leaving, I walked behind the bleachers and saw these drink machines.

I loved how the glow of the lights of the machines colored the surrounding area. This platform is at about chin level, so I was able to hold the camera steady on the platform, thus getting a low point-of-view and a good night shot without a tripod.
