Hey, that guy's in my writing class!

12/28/12 – Cold Winter

And it's sure been a cold, cold winter

And the wind ain't been blowin' from the south

For some of us, winter is a time that we may avoid. We may just sit inside by a warm fire, dreaming of a hot summer. Not these two gals. Robyn and her daughter, Hailey, took advantage of the shining sun on this cold, cold winter day. And to my surprise, Hailey lost her first tooth right before the photo session. We had fun, spite the cold and goofed around quite a bit. Can you guess which one of them was on the naughty list?

It sure been a hard, hard winter

My feet been draggin' 'cross the ground

And I hope it's gonna be a long, hot summer

And the light of love will be burnin' bright

Finally a clear picture . The gear , wool finger mittens or neoprene gloves , cycling gloves . cycling shorts , cycling tights , short sleeve jersey , long sleeve jersey ,vest with pockets , fleece pullover , neoprene skull cap , helmet , fuzzy band / ear cover for around helmet cycling shoes = toasty warm . Shoe covers would help .

The end destination from the trip that saw this and this ended in Fairbanks. Hi, manywinters!

A duo of cold weather troops.

A syrphid, Eupeodes (or a related genus such as Syrphus) in my garden. Whatever these are, they are very cold-tolerant, as I see many in cool fall weather when most other syrphids are gone. HFDF!

Looks like I'm staying indoors today. May be -8 as a normal temperature, but it feels like -35 with the wind chill....

If I'm not mistaken, there are some records being broken around me.
