And now for a foodie photo! My dinner on November 6, 2021--roasted onion, Delicata squash, & apples with chicken tamale over brown rice! Recently, I discovered both chicken & beef tamales in Trader Joe's freezer section. They are delicious & quick to prepare!
Today is cold,windy and rainy again, time for warm naps,hugs and soft blankets. Mom is making cookies....By the way yesteday I had my rabies vaccine ,I don"t feel the puncture ,and I feel very good today. Kissies ,Happy Sunday.

Boy, am I behind on sweeping! The cold weather made my Hibiscus plant shed most of it's leaves and my poor little ceramic snail is getting buried out there on the balcony, lol...he still looks happy though!:-)

I had a temporary Home Health Client and her husband was an Artist. He had painted this snail and I let him know how impressed I was with his ceramics and oil paintings. He gave this to me and hand painted a plastic turtle lawn ornament I have as well, which is also on my balcony, but safe from the leaves!!!:-)
He has since passed away which makes this cute snail even more special.
This is from a full page Texaco Antifreeze ad that is too big for my scanner. It came out of an October 1951 Colliers magazine.
The temperature here set a new record low.
The soup has lentils, carrots, celery, tomatoes, sweet potatoes and red peppers in a chicken stock base.

Jelly and I are working on pulling the dolly winter clothes - coats, hats, leg warmers, sweaters, etc for the girls! She's also trying out some new glasses we got the other day! :)

Me and Anna went out for a photoshoot today. This is taken by the road on the way to Nesjavellin.
It was -5°C and the wind was blowing snow along the ground. Ran out for like 2 minutes at a time and then back to the car to warm up a bit.

OK! I know I've turned into a wimp since moving to Florida, but it's cold today in Florida (High 40's low 50's to start the day). In Wisconsin this would have been a heat wave. It did however, allow me opportunity to wear one of my winter skirts and a slip along with my Leggs Sheer Energy Active Support Pantyhose.

We have to dress warmly to cope with these temperatures, but if I walk quickly, it is very enjoyable and bracing, Best seen large by clicking on the photo.

Tough fishing conditions but a good catch! It isn't pretty but the heron seemed to like it. Heron with bream at O'Neal Lake, Hatchie Wildlife Refuge!

Brrrrr! It's cold! From my building (and in my cube farm) when we talk about the weather, we always go "Well, what does Allen have to say about the temperature?" And we look out the window, and see what the Allen-Bradley clock tower and temperature tower are reporting for time and temperature. Who needs 936-1212 when Allen is ready to keep you updated?

The mute swan is a very large white waterbird. It has a long S-shaped neck, and an orange bill with black at the base of it. Flies with its neck extended and regular slow wingbeats. The population in the UK has increased recently, perhaps due to better protection of this species. The problem of lead poisoning on lowland rivers has also largely been solved by a ban on the sale of lead fishing weights. Some birds stay in their territories all year, while others move short distances and form winter flocks. In cold weather, some birds arrive from Europe into eastern England.

Where to see them:
Breeds across most of the UK, other than in northern Scotland, mid-Wales and the moors of south-west England. Possible to see anywhere there is a shallow lake, or a slow-flowing rivers, even in urban areas and parks.
When to see them: All year round
What they eat: Water plants, insects and snails.
Sauteed some hot Italian sausage. Once browned I removed it from the pot then added a bit of olive oil, sauteed onion, garlic, cubed butternut squash, cubed carrot and minced fresh turmeric about a good Tablespoon or more.I added some homemade stock. Brought up to a boil then simmered until squash was soft. I mashed it a bit to thicken the soup but left some in pieces. Adjusted the salt and added a bit of medium dry sherry. Added a can of garbanzo beans, cubed zucchini, and the browned sausage. Simmered until zucchini was cooked but not mushy. Added some brewers yeast, some leftover brown rice and parsley. Finished with a dash of lemon juice, zest and white pepper.
The total cook time was about 45 minutes. Easy and yummy. Want vegetarian? Then just leave out the sausage. Add some aleppo chili or a dash of hot sauce for spice. Tofu would be tasty as well. Other variations could include sweet or regular potato or pasta. You could use shrimp instead of sausage, add toward the end so it doesn't overcook.
Served with whole grain toast and salad.
The participants were introduced to the specialty unit “Mountain Cold Weather Company” through morning PT. MCW is one of the many specialty units Norwich has to offer for any rook or cadet willing to attempt and complete their indoctrination period, which starts in September and finishes in April. After completing the indoctrination period, also known as their “green stick” year, they are welcomed into the company. The company specializes in knot tying and mountaineering in all states of weather.
