Go to Bali and despite a legal ban you will not pass through a populated area without seeing at least a few fighting cocks. The birds will generally be housed in small woven bamboo baskets where they will wait before their next fight. I didn't actually see a fight but i am assured that they are brutal since the birds have razor blades fixed to their legs! A good bird may survive as many as three fights and the fight order works on a 'winner stays on basis'. Considering that the population of Bali generally believe in reincarnation based on how good you were in your previous life these birds must have done some pretty bad stuff in lives gone by!
