car diet!
Hello,
We own a Toyota Prius. These types of vehicles can and SHOULD be the standard bearer for the automotive industry. EPA, please help us to help ourselves to reduce greenhouse gas emissions even more from cars & trucks! YOU HOLD THE KEYS.

I am adamantly in favor of clean cars. I am a member of the Electric Auto Association and drive a converted Chev S10 pickup for all of my local driveing. Please reverse the Bush policy blocking California from this effort.

When I win lotto, I will buy a clean car! But for now... what am I to do?? You know how to make 'em as cheap as other cars. What's the hold up? Waiting waiting-- we will buy green and clean!
As a Toyota Prius owner, I am a firm believer that we absolutely must, for the very survival of this nation, become the world leader in clean cars and clean energy. The fact that we have fallen so far behind European nations in this regard is an absolute crime perpetrated on the American people by a failed ideology and those who support it. The time has come to break free from failed policies of the past and step up to the plate before it's too late. The world can no longer wait for us -- we will either move ahead and lead, or die in the dust! Also, Ford has no plans to sell the new high mpg diesel Ford Fiesta here in the U.S.! What is that about??

It's time to update Henry Ford's century old invention - the automobile!
Times have changed, and cars need to keep up with the times!
Clean air shouldn't be a luxury, it should be an inalienable right!
I often ponder where we would be today if we had lead the world in clean
cars during President Carter's era. No unnecessary wars in the Middle East;
countries buying our clean products; decreasing the carbon footprint
dramatically etc. However, now is not the time for regret, it is a time of
urgent action. The US must take the lead today and manufacture clean cars
for domestic and international use. GM must return to making its electric
cars as seen in the documentary Who Killed the Electric Car--a must see for
those who think electric cars are new!

I don't HAVE a key because I WANT a clean car and there is nothing out there that fits my needs.
What happened to the RAV4 EV? Who killed the electric car?
The California regulations are at least a step on the road to persuading manufacturers to produce a car I'd be proud to own.
Please grant California the waiver to implement clean car standards that will improve fuel economy and limit greenhouse gases

It's silly to me that more cars don't have more forward gears. If you can go 35 mph in 5th gear on a flat surface, why not have an 8th gear for going 65mph on the highway?
The more time one can spend keeping their engine at around 1,500 rpm, the better one's fuel economy will be with their car. The 2009 VW Jetta TDI has 6 forwards gears and gets upwards of 50mpg, which I think is a vast improvement, but there are so many stragglers out there, and there's no excuse for it.

I live in NYC, so I don't have a car any more (I use ZipCars.) But here I am
without my keys.
I co-authored a book on electric vehicles back in 1978: I've been pushing
for clean cars since the Oil Crisis of 1973!! It's ABOUT TIME!
And PLEASE: corn is NOT the solution — too much pollution/processing, etc.
Sugar cane works (check out Brazil!) Maybe we could revitalize
the southern USA by creating a sugar cane industry devoted exclusively to
converting it to ethanol?
