590nm Infrared capture of this eastbound intermodal freight past the Annville, PA train station on a warm June afternoon.

Along NS's Pittsburgh Line at The Brickyard these two EMD helpers are headed West to assist another freight through the hills and turns of the mainline.

A yard crew shifts (train on the left) while another prepares to leave town and a FRED blinks on the rear of another train. Both locomotives happen to be EMD SD60Es.

The Y135 from Barr to Clearing rounding the bend into Blue Island Junction. Leading the way is CSXT 2428, a former L&N SD40-2.

The CSX 2400 series SD40-2s are mostly all captive yard units, except for this 2428. Over the last few years, this one has made numerous trips on the mainline. It was my first time shooting one of these 2400 series CSX 40s.

This was a pleasant surprise coming through BI, as I was only here to kill some time on my way to the White Sox game hoping to see them break the MLB season loss record, which they did not end up doing. They can’t even lose properly.

After a delay to idiot teenage trespassers, 26E finally rounds the curve near MV5 on the Morrisville Line.

A BNSF GP39-2 leads a local into Boise Cascade's Building Materials Distribution Center in Spokane.

Y135 from CSX Barr Yard beginning to yard their train at BRC Clearing Yard. I hadn't shot a CSX SD50 since 2017 before this.

D36 coming into the town of Gibson City where they will do some work at DuPont Chemical before continuing to Decatur. This pair of former N&W SD40s was a nice duo while it lasted.

The crew works the small yard East of the plant.

a NS local makes a run under a bridge with #3337 running long hood forward in Allentown.

Say what you want about these things but I always liked them.

A very late NS 227 sits past east end portlock with two SD70ACe leading and begins to pull forward to the belt line diamond.

A typical modern consist on a mainline, but can’t beat the morning lighting, semi-clean leader, and the Central IL farm scene on the former Wabash.

The same H1 duo from my previous upload of VPTSBLU heading back West the following day on VBLUPTS.

A stack train pulling out of Markham with an SD60 as SD60F CN 5562 holds with its train alongside. Scenes to not be repeated!

I arrived home from shooting UP 4014 and found this guy sitting outside of where I live. It sat near Verona for about 3.5 hours for an unknown reason. I crossed the tracks where it was sitting on my way to set for a shot for whenever it decided to move and the ditch lights flashed on. Talk about luck and timing!

NB06 i believe crosses over to the Norfolk sub on main 1 and head west into portlock from berkeley with 5113 at the lead. Really missed catching the beltline, been awhile and was glad to see 5113 and 5261, gotta fine 5260 next!

A clean H2 duo leading a Westbound stack from Corwith towards Pearland, Texas.

A duo of BNSF SD75 rebuilds leading MCHIGAL West across the Chilli Sub on a Saturday morning back in 2018. We had a handful of these SD75s bouncing around for a little while back then.

CSX M574 navigates the street running segment through downtown La Grange on a busy morning with an autonomous track assessment car (ATAC) second out. These boxcars have been retrofitted with inspection technology to find defects on the rails, supplementing its dedicated track geometry trains.

CN 8851 & 5286 leading L585 West on the CN Gilman Sub. This job is now overnight once again. After a handful of years of running mid-day, it has returned to how it had been for years of nocturnal running.

CP 7018 leading 148 for Chicago through Spences Bridge where the Nicola River meets the Thompson River.

The sound of turbocharged and air aspirated EMD's is unlike anything else on this planet.

With a sporty new plow (or at least a freshly painted one) this NS tanker train heads West toward Harrisburg.

NS I78 enters Suffolk VA with a very long train of intermodal heading to portlock yard with two BNSF gevos and a UP gevo trailing. Goodness the foreign power has been awesome recently, you would think we were in Iowa lol. This train did put a smile on my face. i love my NS but to see a train with no black and white was a nice change of paces. I did plan on catching this in Downtown Suffolk but ended up checking google maps and wanted to go for a shot. Half way to the spot, i realized that i would be shotting completed backlit. It was to late for me to turn back so i had to make it work. I end up walking down a little on the lit side and ended shotting next to a farmers cotton felid and sitting on a stick of wood to get some height. I ended up puling this off and I'm super happy with it. It may still just be a wedge shot but I'm still pleased with the results

Off in the distance, you can see the helpers on the rear of this loaded train.

It looks like the leader has full PTC equipped by this time but the trailing EMD does not yet have PTC.

NPBL crews takes NS 5113 over the Scuffeltown Creek bridge with one tanker and four grainer to Berkeley

CP 6261 on point of 281 with a beautiful sounding horn to compliment the relatively new paint, is accompanied by a GP20ECO and an SD40-3. The sound of 710s and a 645 is music to the ears as she accelerates out of Watertown.

a NS local heads over the y switch in Roanoke and heads over to the shops with two Tankers.

The CN & CP mainlines running along the Thompson River on the popular Thompson Canyon routes. A CP coal train is seen heading North and a CN vehicle train headed South.

A set of helpers glides past the former brickyard, a great place to hang out and watch trains. The fall colors make for an overall nice image, even if we don't see a full train.

My wife snagged this shot while I was on the other side of the tracks, waiting to capture the view from a different angle.

A mixed freight heads into Enola Yard. I think this one came off of the Buffalo line.

As a modeler of trains I love finding mixed or unique fonts such as the number boards on the trailing unit. Zoom in to check it out.

Gbrf`s 57310 recently named "UK Railtours" passes Burn at speed working 5Z58 the 13.30 Tursdale jn to March up yard class 1 driver training move 25/04/2025.

This lone SD60E is up front on an empty hopper train (there were helpers on the rear) around the famous Horseshoe Curve.

The Norfolk Portsmouth Belt Line pulls into their Berkeley yard with a grain train off of NS with 5260 leading a NS dash 9 for power. I really like this shot, it really makes me reflect on all the trains I've seen. Thing back when i was going to Berkeley every day to see the Belt line and seeing older dash 9s when i first stared railfanning. To see the together was really cool and kind of bitter sweet in a way.

There were plenty of clouds but luck was on my side out on the roller coaster profile of the Dubuque Sub west of Jesup. This is a neat line but I hadn't really done anything out here since the CC&P days. M338 is a great morning chase, especially this late in the fall. November 11, 2024.
