NV02 i believe pulls up to Portlock rd. and shoves it intermodals back into the yard with #3218 at the lead

The Georgia road unit sits in Newport News terminals yard waiting for its next train.

A Newport News train begins its journey out of the coal piers and heads North with CSX #42 at the lead.

NPBL crew work the yard with NPBL 5260 and NS 5113 as they go over the NPBL crossing

This is the second Heritage unit I've caught in the town of Jarrett, first being the 1976. I've explained before that this was a spot my grandfather used to take me when i was really young and would try to catch a train for me. It wasn't an intend goal of mine but i would love to catch s many heritage units i can here at this spot specially for my grandfather. It always feels good to catch such nice looking engines at his spot.

NS 814 clear through the now abandon Roanoke shops with #9825 at the lead.

NS 23G powers sit in Portlock yard, had a ACU on it. had to get Permission to come back here to see.

As CSX i031 fly's past skipper, not even two seconds later M416 fly's past me with #822 leading the way up the A line.

NS 820 speeds through Yadkin on a very cloudy day. Had Savannah and Atlanta trailing.

after almost 20 years of service, most of NS Dash 9 have been but in storage in Roanoke for rebuilding into C6M. It is a very sad sight but I guess you could say there's some relief that there not meeting the cutters torch.

We always say Hi to Roy when we pass on the Blenkinsop Trestle. Sunday we stopped for this photo op since he was dressed up for Christmas.

Part of what would be a three-way meet these two freights pass each other with a coal train just about to join the party. The zoom-pan is the hardest shot for me so I'm always happy when one turns out decently. It is a mix of both panning and zooming out a constant speed to match a moving target.
