Just finished this weekend! My shabby fairy cigar box dollhouse features a real working window, wood plank floor, tiny clay bricks and plaster walls and a battery operated LED wall lamp.

This is my second pinhole camera. This one is also made from a cigar box, but this time I covered the box with leatherette from Camera Leather. I used brass extensively to make it somewhat ornate. The pinhole is from Lenox Laser and is held in place by a rubber O-Ring. They both sit in a closet pull cup. I used a brass washer to put the pinhole at exactly 90mm from the focal plane. I was able to get the washer laser engraved, to give it a commercial look. I took my first two shots and they are currently being developed. Here is an image with this camera..

April Mae and the June Bugs is perhaps the most entertaining, not only because of the variety of music which they perform, but precisely because they play TO the crowd, and very much act out some the shtick of their songs.
Not that their songs are schmaltzy, but they are entertaining musically, because of the story they tell - and the way in which it's told.
It's quite clear they enjoy performing!
So, okay, I got a bunch of ukuleles. I thought it was time to take a new group shot. I have so many ukuleles that I almost forgot to include the banjolele in this.
The new one is the big one third from the right. It's a Tahitian ukulele, which is mostly solid construction with the sound hole a hollowed-out chunk in the back. It's surprisingly loud and (given it's among my larger ukuleles, about the same size as the Baritones and my Bass) surprisingly high. It has sort of the standard GCEA ukulele tuning, but each string is doubled, and the C and E strings are an octave higher (so, effectively, G and A are your low strings instead of the C string on a normal uke).
Oh, and it has surprisingly good tone, given that the strings aren't really designed for good musical intonation so much as they're designed to pull fish out of the water--it's literally strung with fishing line.

This box will be the one that I use to build my first cigar box guitar. I have 6 of these so if I make a mistake I can just grab another one. I will use a hardtail bridge and a single coil pickup from Delta Groove Guitars. I am also using one of their finished necks. I'm not sure about the knobs on this one but I had some of these available.
The box measurements are:
Outside: 11 3/4" X 7 7/8" X 2 3/8"
Top Insert: 9 3/8" X 5 1/2" X 5/8"
Inside Depth: 1 3/4"

This cigar box is a vintage "Meditation Natural" wooden box. I altered it and hand painted the furniture and accessories to make a little dollhouse world :). The painting technique I used required multiple layers of color and crackle to get this shabby look. Gold highlights were brushed on to give a little sparkle.
I installed a wee operable window, wallpaper, and curtains. The curtains are topped with handmade paper roses, tulle, gold ribbon and pearls.
This sitting room comes with dressing table w/mirror, porcelain tea cup and saucer, mail, LED battery-operated working hurricane lamp, rocking chair w/ handmade pillow, rug, clay flowers in pitcher, and teddy bear.
Size of the box is 6 1/2" x 6 3/4" x 2 1/4". All furniture and accessories are 1:12 scale.

I've been having so much fun with my little cigar box fairy house project. It's almost finished! I just lack some mossy bits and fairy dust :).
The house features a LED wall light which is removable for battery replacement. Plus, a hand-made wooden floor (what was I thinkin'?).

It actually makes sounds. They might not be the greatest sounds but it was a fun project and will hold a prominent place on my wall right next to my chia pet collection!
This box has a tragicomic story. Originally I made this box for a good friend. Usually I am strictly non smoker and won't support anything smoking related, but since he smoked small cigars and pipe for years anyways this box was ideal as a birthday present. Funny enough, shortly before I finished the box, he told me at a visit, that he just quit smoking - after years of smoking - just before I could give him his smoking related present; I hate Murphy ^^. Anyways I made him another present, showed another dear friend the box and she wanted it very much for her mothers upcoming birthday - luckily her mother had the same initial as my originally intended receiver. Very sadly though she suddenly died :*(, so the only thing for me left to do, was to give the box as a last momentum to her mother on her funeral :(.

Mit Kerbschnitzereien aufgewertete Zigarrenkiste
Diese Schatulle hat eine tragischkomische Entstehungsgeschichte. Ursprünglich hatte ich die Kiste für einen guten Freund vorgesehen. Ich bin ein strikter Nichraucher, und lehne eigentlich alles vehement ab was mit Rauchen zu tun hat, aber da er seit Jahren Zigarillos und Pfeife rauchte, bot sich diese Zigarrenkiste als ideales Geburtstagseschenk an. Ironischerweise besuchte mich dieser Freund kurz vor seinem Geburtstag und teilte mir dieser Gelegheit mit, dass er das Rauchen nun aufgegeben hätte - nach jahrelangem Rauchen - kurz bevor ich ihm mein ausnahmsweise raucherbezogenes Geschenk fertigstellen konnte; mann muss Murphy einfach hassen ^^. Wie auch immer, ich hab ihm etwas anderes gemacht. Eine enge Freundin war begeistert von der Schatulle und wollte sie mir als Geburtstagsgeschenk für ihre Mutter abkaufen. Traurigerweise verstarb sie plötzlich völlig unvorhersehbar :*(. Das Einzige, was ich noch tun konnte, war, ihrer Mutter die Schatulle als letztes Andenken auf der Beerdigung zu übergeben :(

Kurt Schoen is quickly becoming known as the greatest of all cigar box guitar builders with clients such as Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), the Robertson brothers (Black Crowes), Bonnie Raitt and others.
This is Schoen Guitars serial # 002! It was custom built for Shane Speal back in August, 2004. Speal can be seen playing a raga on it in the Songs Inside the Box documentary.

Treasure Box 4 is aglow with iridescent tile, glass, mini tiles, tempered glass, ball chain and features a carved Greenstone horse.
Built by Tomi-O Hartwell of Hinton, WV. This guitar was a gift to Shane Speal after Hartwell asked Speal what his 'ultimate cigar box guitar' would be. Speal drew up plans for a double neck similar to this creation. Hartwell added Fender Telecaster pickups, zebra wood necks and filled the box with solid wood (thus making the instrument a solidbody electric).
Speal performed with this instrument alongside Bobby Hamilton in the Songs Inside the Box documentary. Ironically, Hamilton was also playing a cigar box guitar built by Tomi-O Hartwell.
