This cigar box is a vintage "meditation" wooden box. I altered it and hand painted the furniture and accessories to make a little dollhouse world :). I installed a wee operable window, wallpaper, and curtains. Sitting room comes with dressing table w/mirror, porcelain tea cup and saucer, letters from friends, LED battery-operated hurricane lamp, rocking chair w/pillow, rug, clay roses in pitcher, and teddy bear.

All furniture and accessories are 1:12 scale.

From 1883, stones and keepsakes from a journey to Europe by an American couple whose little notebook implies life changes between their departure & return. A cherished offering from my magical handyman, who found this box in the attic of an abandoned home some years back. I'm pursuing leads on the couple, from Ravenswood, Virginia.

a collection of cigar boxes on a book shelf.

i found this collection of old cigar boxes in an antique store in downtown Cape Girardeau. I liked these because they brought back memories. Not that I used to smoke them but I remember seeing these boxes behind a counter at the drug store I used to visit.

Cigar Box Wrapper/USA (1962)

This is a Plein-Air Watercolor travel set that I made for a friend. I made it for less than $10 and it is equal to the $200.00 set sold commercially. I have made over 50 so far and each one gets better each time.

They are fun to make. All you need is a couple of regular hand tools, a little glue and an hour or two to put them together. Made from a cigar box that you can get at any cigar store for less than a couple of dollars. The size is perfect for traveling 6" x 8" and weights less than 2 lbs when filled. Perfect for the artist who wants to carry all his/hers supplies in a very small box.

If you would like to know more about how to make one let me know. I have created many other items for use by water color artists to use in the outdoors. I have a watercolor easel that is easier to use that some of the commercial ones on the market today.
