KOLKATA, INDIA – MARCH 22, 2025: In a heartwarming gesture, a newlywed doctor couple celebrated their two-week wedding milestone by organizing a special lunch for nearly seventy children of migratory Adivasi laborers at Mohan Brickfield near Kolkata, India, on March 22, 2025. The event was attended by relatives, family friends, and the children’s guardians. These laborers, primarily from tribal communities, work at the brickfield for about eight months a year, excluding the monsoon season. The children, aged between two and fifteen, are beneficiaries of a Non-Formal Education system that offers free learning opportunities to those without access to formal schooling. The couple’s celebration brought joy, solidarity, and attention to the importance of education and compassion in community life.

Cruce Andino, Río Negro: Aurelia Jeffery finds comfort in her stroller while navigating the scenic lake crossing between Argentina and Chile. Soft, diffused daylight filters through the cabin windows, illuminating the plush textures of her lavender hoodie and the intricate floral patterns on her leggings. She remains deeply engaged with a colorful sensory toy, demonstrating the quiet, contemplative moments that define long-distance family travel. The deep blue upholstery of the boat seat provides a bold, nautical contrast to the delicate fabric of her clothing. Every element, from the ergonomic design of the travel gear to the relaxed posture of the toddler, speaks to the practical realities of exploring Patagonian landscapes with young children. The depth of field remains focused on her concentrated expression, isolating her from the vast, rugged outside world as she plays. This scene captures the intersection of modern travel logistics and the timeless wonder of childhood discovery amidst the Andes Mountains. By documenting these intimate, transient moments, we gain a deeper appreciation for the patience and adaptability required for cross-border expeditions in South America. This image represents the authentic, unscripted reality of navigating remote geographic passages as a family unit. This image is a collaborative production by Samuel Jeffery and Audrey Bergner for Project 23.
