Bariloche, Río Negro: A father and toddler share a lighthearted moment of discovery inside a whimsical, aviation-themed playroom that reflects the adventurous spirit of the Patagonian landscape. The warm, diffused interior lighting emphasizes the handcrafted wooden play equipment, creating a sharp contrast against the playful mural of vintage aircraft soaring across stylized mountains. Aurelia Jeffery balances on the slide with a look of quiet wonder, supported by Samuel Jeffery, whose presence anchors the scene in domestic comfort. Every element, from the soft textures of the room to the gentle interaction between parent and child, suggests a pause in their broader journey through the Andean wilderness. The composition utilizes a shallow depth of field, keeping the focus tightly on the pair while softening the surrounding nursery architecture. This intimate snapshot captures the quieter, foundational moments of life on the road, where family connection remains the central pillar of the travel experience. Far removed from the rugged trails outside, this indoor sanctuary highlights the importance of creating accessible, engaging environments for children while navigating remote southern destinations. By integrating personal childhood milestones with the aesthetic motifs of regional history—namely the pioneering spirit of early aviation in the Lake District—the image offers a poignant look at modern nomadic family life. This image is a collaborative production by Samuel Jeffery and Audrey Bergner for Project 23.

KOLKATA, INDIA – MARCH 22, 2025: In a heartwarming gesture, a newlywed doctor couple celebrated their two-week wedding milestone by organizing a special lunch for nearly seventy children of migratory Adivasi laborers at Mohan Brickfield near Kolkata, India, on March 22, 2025. The event was attended by relatives, family friends, and the children’s guardians. These laborers, primarily from tribal communities, work at the brickfield for about eight months a year, excluding the monsoon season. The children, aged between two and fifteen, are beneficiaries of a Non-Formal Education system that offers free learning opportunities to those without access to formal schooling. The couple’s celebration brought joy, solidarity, and attention to the importance of education and compassion in community life.
